As the Latin saying goes, "nomen omen," and that applies perfectly to these moths.
They always fly up wildly from under my feet and settle a short distance away on a blade of grass. I never paid them any mind before, but now that I’m taking photos for iNaturalist, I’m adding them to my collection.
They’re hard to photograph, though. They usually sit at the base of the blade of grass, and I need to photograph their wings. Plus, there are issues with depth of field.
