WHEN SILENCE TAKES FLIGHT

Sometimes the most striking scenes appear in the most unexpected places.😎

These photos were taken on a truck parking lot in Germany. Actually nothing fancy, no famous landmarks, just a metal structure, an open sky... and a black bird sitting perfectly still. That moment felt strange, quiet and powerful.

There is something special about minimalist frames. When there’s almost nothing in the picture, the few things that are there start to feel deeper, stronger.
It’s a photo of a bird and a piece of metal but for me also a photo of stillness, waiting, maybe even freedom....

The bird is probably a Common Raven – CORVUS CORAX – one of the largest and smartest members of the crow family. Ravens are incredible creatures:
– They can mimic sounds including human speech
– They recognize individual people and remember faces 😲
– They play games, slide down snow-covered roofs and even use tools to solve problems
– Some scientists say their intelligence is close to that of great apes

But ravens are also full of symbolism. In Norse mythology two ravens – Huginn and Muninn – flew across the world to bring Odin news. In many Native American cultures ravens are seen as creators or tricksters. In literature and folklore they often appear as messengers between worlds – wise, mysterious, a little spooky.

I like that duality: part scientist, part myth.
