Pale Grass Blue

On the afternoon of the 28th, I went to feed the fish in the pond. Suddenly, I saw something like a small insect flying. It was so small that at first I thought it was a fly or something like that. It was about the size of a fingernail, but when it sat on a green leaf, I looked closely and saw that it was a small butterfly.

There was a lot of wind blowing because of the clouds in the sky, and those who do macro photography with mobile phones will understand very well how difficult it is to take a picture of such a small thing. As soon as I brought the phone too close to focus, it flew away and went to another place. I walked behind it for a long time and took some pictures, it was really a matter of patience. After taking the picture, I zoomed in and saw a black round spot surrounded by a white ring on its ash-brown wings. When it sat on a flower and drank the nectar of the flower, the scene looked quite beautiful.

When I got home, I uploaded the picture to the iNaturalist app and found out that its English name is Pale Grass Blue. Its scientific name is Pseudozizeeria maha. They are so small in size that when spread out, their wingspan is 20-26 millimeters or 2-2.6 centimeters from one wing tip to the other. They are seen in abundance in grass, various flowers and crop fields in our Purulia or Natore area, but we usually do not notice them due to their small size.
