On a fresh green leaf still wet with morning dew, I spotted a beetle flies perched on the leaf. It was walking along the leaf's surface, its steps slow and deliberate, as if it understood that each step was part of a long, untold story. This was my first time encountering this beetle fly.
At first, I was a little hesitant to photograph it because it was so small and constantly moving. I paused there for a few minutes, waiting for it to settle down. But it wouldn't. Rather than wait any longer and have it wander away, which would be fruitless, I turned on my phone camera and pointed it in the beetle flies direction.
I snapped a lot of pictures with a lightning-fast click rate. Nearly a hundred. Do you know what the results were? I ended up with more low-quality images than were worth sharing here. But that didn't matter at all. I was happy to find such a small object. It could be a challenge to overcome to hone my skills in photographing small, moving objects.
