As someone who loves researching and also an observer of nature,i want to appreciate nature especially in the areas of innovations.
Where with the aid and help of nature, majority of innovations in medicine, engineering and construction and technology have come into fruition.
Lets take a look at some of them, but special interest on PEREGRINE FALCONS.
1)THE PEREGRINE FALCONS.
The peregrine falcons are the most fastest birds🕊️ on planet earth, they can exceed speed of 240mph during dives. And they faces immense airflow pressure during these dives, which could damage their lungs.
But they have been able to survive this dangerous air pressure because of the availability of a cone structure situated inside their nostrils which nature has provided for them and it is called a TUBERCLE. This cone shaped structure, disrupts and slows down the incoming rush of air, thereby preventing possible lung damage and allowing them to breathe safely at supersonic speed, can you beat that?
APPLICATION TO JET ENGINES.
A deep study of this bird has led engineers to be able to solve the problem of air pressure on supersonic aircraft engines and been able to design the B-2 Bomber also known as the stealth bomber.Putting into practice some of the features and survival routines of this wonderful Birds 🐦 of nature.
For air pressure,Jet engines face similar problems, especially at supersonic speeds, where uncontrolled airflow can cause engine choke, stalling, or even cause potential physical damage.
Engineers noticed the falcon's nostril cones’ effect and adapted the concept,a metallic cone (also known as shock cone or inlet cone) was placed at the jet engine’s intake and this tackles the problem of air flow that could These cones slow, channel, and stabilize incoming air, utilizing shockwave deflection and reducing air velocity before reaching sensitive engine parts.
one can rightfully and confidently summarize that studying nature has led to numerous innovations in science, engineering, and technology. This is what i call pure BIOMIMICRY,a process of observing and replicating biological solutions. With it humans have developed many breakthrough inventions.
Other innovations from studying nature are
The KINGFISHERS: The shape of the kingfisher’s beak inspired the aerodynamic nose of Japan’s high-speed Shinkansen trains, reducing noise and improving efficiency.
THE WHALES: The structure of whale fins has been replicated in wind turbine blades to enhance efficiency and reduce drag.
Like i said earlier, this write ✍️ is dedicated solely for PEREGRINE FALCONS,thank you NATURE.
Thanks 🙏 for reading, yours truly
