Don't really have time to write a "real" post right now but did want to give a quick update as degens pump the price of BTC to $69420 once more. Looks like the long-awaited alpha launch of the Holozing game will start soon. I must admit I'm a little excited to see this product come to fruition. It's fun to get in on stuff at the ground floor and this is a cool idea. Honestly I should have done that with Splinterlands back when it was called Steem Monsters. I would have too if I wasn't playing Hearthstone at the time. My brain couldn't justify two CCGs at the same time. These things happen.
That and I'm totally irresponsibly long on the Zing token right now. Didn't plan for this to happen but it felt like I was the only one defending the bottom. Now I own over 10% of the LP and have millions of tokens staked. In fact I was even thinking about buying a little more today to defend the 400:1 ZING:HIVE ratio but someone splashed the pot hard and pumped the price 40%. So I guess I get to take a little break from my own degeneracy.
For me the zing token has become my "memecoin" play because I refuse to participate in this cycle's disappointing "new" narrative. With a total market cap under $100k (and I was defending $33k at one point) Zing is pretty much the ultimate moonbag for my portfolio... not that I'm doing this because I think it might make money but obviously won't complain if that happens.
At the end of the day people like to support projects built on their network... which is ironically exactly why NFTs were so overvalued on Ethereum and memes are so overvalued on Solana. Once the main chain "makes it" and people are rich they can throw all kinds of money at ridiculous nonsense. Over here on Hive money is tight and funding is much harder to get. It's gotten to the point where Solana can spin up a memecoin and spike the market cap several multiples higher than Hive in an instant. Talk about insult to injury!
Holozing vials
These packs come chalked full of assets needed to play the game, although I must admit they are quite expensive at $20 a pop. I ended up buying 21 of them and only realized after it cost me $420. Such serendipity. Much wow. Degen confirmed.
As of now only 252 vials have been sold total, which seems to be happy with for the moment. That's good because building project like this can be absurdly expensive and honestly $5000 isn't exactly a ton of money... but it's something for sure.
Don't buy these vials... or else! They're all mine.
I have a financial incentive to tell everyone to not buy these vials because the rarity of them is going to be determined by the community. They can be purchased in infinite number up to a certain time to prevent scalping which is a good way of going about it. Also a LOT of zing inflation is going to be allocated to vial holders. IIRC it's going to be 100k ZING a day... so if no more vials got sold I'd be earning a ton of zing being one of the elite. Of course I don't want that to actually happen and I want the game to be well funded so don't buy these vials I'll cut you.
Tokenomics
Zing tokenomics are interesting because thus far the main way to farm the token has been through Hive delegations to fund the project. Obviously it's not great that Hive price is 20 cents but 2025 is right around the corner so hopefully we catch a break in that department.
That being said I've never delegated to this project and instead opted to take "the other side of the trade" as it were: just buying tokens straight up off the market. There's somewhat of a financial incentive to keep token price low because whenever it pumps a big delegator can move in to farm ZING tokens for more yield than curation offers and then dump them immediately after they've been farmed. Obviously this won't last forever when there's actually something to do with the tokens besides farm them. Until then I pick up millions on the cheap defending the bottom... which is very easy to do when the market cap gets as low as $33k. Someone's gotta buy spot amirite?
Conclusion
These vials are pretty expensive and I really I have no idea what they truly do because the game isn't playable yet. Still, I'm feeling pretty good about my financial situation at the moment... in fact I just acquired a "free" $11k recently. Such privilege. It's actually taking quite a bit of discipline to not just ape it into crypto like I always do. Wish me luck (or not).
Hive has a lot of value bubbling up under the surface but it's hard to acknowledge that when the token price is struggling as it is. Hopefully projects like Holozing and the infrastructure we're building will turn it all around. 2025 will be a good year I'm sure of it.
