Good night or good morning everyone, hope u all doing great.
This week I’ve been working on a few different things, and one of them was this Forest Healer portrait. I painted it while I was streaming on Blaze, so it was one of those pieces that slowly grows while you’re also hanging out with people in chat.
The whole process was pretty chill tbh. I started with the idea of the character and just let the drawing take shape little by little. Sometimes I like working like that, without planning too much and just seeing where the image wants to go.
One funny thing about this piece is that I used the same brush for almost the entire drawing. It’s not really my favorite brush or anything, but it’s one I’ve been using a lot lately, so I’m pretty comfortable with it at this point.
I spent quite a while working in grayscale first. I like doing that because it helps me focus on the light, shadows, and the overall mood before even thinking about color. It kinda feels like building the foundation of the piece.
Once I moved to color, I started playing around with gradients and mixing them together until something felt right. A lot of experimenting happened there… combining, adjusting, trying again. Eventually something just clicked and I went with it.
Near the end I softened a few areas so some transitions would feel smoother, but I still tried to keep a bit of the texture so the piece wouldn’t look too clean. IMO that little bit of roughness keeps things more alive.
After that, I opened Corel Painter for a bit and added some extra texture in a few places. Nothing too crazy, just small touches here and there to give the image a bit more character.
While I was working on the piece earlier during the stream, I was also hanging out on Blaze and having a really fun time. I met some new people, chats got a bit random, and honestly there were a few moments that had me dying of laughter lol.
And that’s how this Forest Healer came to life, one of the things I worked on this week. The whole process was pretty relaxed and fun, and idk… I think that kind of energy always ends up living somewhere inside the final piece
Thank you very much for taking the time to view my work.
Oh, and one more thing before I wrap up...
