Been a little absent the last couple days and probably will be the nest couple as well. I got out for an early weekend, which for those of you who follow me know it is a big deal for me to get out. My cousin, who is also retired Jarhead as well drove a couple hours to pick me up. I am staying with him for s few days to hang out and hopefully not get in any trouble, but we are a couple old Marines so you know how that may go .😀
Anyway, we had a cookout and picnic with my old Marine Corps League Detachment on Saturday. It was a pretty good time. The weather cooperated somewhat, because it didn't rain. However, the wind was blowing and it was about 50 degrees Fahrenheit out. With the wind it felt like it was less than that.
We had lots of burgers, hotdogs, beans, chips, potato salad, and macaroni salad. Of course we had lots of deserts and other things that will cause my blood glucose issues.
It was really good to see some old friends and see some of the older generation. Many of them have been passing on, and I did miss seeing some of those faces that I had seen often in the past at events. But I guess it happens to us all, it is the circle of life.
These old dogs in the pictures don't look like much, but in their prime, they used to be some of the leanest and meanest. Some of them seen some of the most fiercest of fighting in far away places. Sent from their homes at young ages in places like Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait, and Iraq.
Multiple generations of Marines with a common bond, enjoying some chow and telling some funny ass stories that would make your belly hurt you laugh so hard.
Semper Fi,
Joe
