I am looking forward to October. I will enjoy the cooler temperatures that it will bring. However, what I am really looking forward to is all the activies planned with one of the local veteran groups I belong to.
Tuesday evening was the monthly meeting of one of the groups. We accomplished alot in this short one hour meeting. We managed to plan and schedule a couple fund raising and organizational activies.
Another event in October a group picnic planned at one of our member's house. It will be a potluck and sure that adult beverages will make their way to the gathering as well.
One of the activities I really look forward to is what is called Toys 4 Tots. We collect new unwrapped toy donations starting in October and lasting through December. These toys will then go to local kids in need for Christmas.
I have a new responsibility for the group, and that is that I am the recorder of the meeting minutes and help the groups leaders communicate out correspondance from our state and national leadership.
There was a little nerves taking on this responsibility. One of my medical condition symptoms is brain fog. It occurs often and impacts my ability to recall short term, and sometimes, long term memories. But, I did really well and the group was patient with me if I had to stop and ask someone to repeat something.
Anyway, next Tuesday I have breakfast with one of the older guys (Vietnam War vet) and then we are picking up the empty boxes so we can start setting them out at different cooperating businesses. Looking forward to that coffee and breakfast with him. He is a good guy and always a pleasure to be around.
Anyway, this post is longer already than I thought it would be. Just wanted to get something out there so you all wouldn't think I was completely without something to write about these days.
Hoepfully October brings many reasons to have something to post about.
Thanks for reading,
Joe
