My entry to the #lovetheclouds contest hosted by .
I have been waiting a few days for some good sky scenes. I usually think the better clouds happen to manifest near sunset; this morning, however, as the burning August sun rose in the Easy, the clouds were too beautiful to pass by. So I skipped my morning hike, hopped in the Camry, and away I went to attempt to capture the art of this morning.
The clouds this morning were very whimsical. I usually enjoy trying to capture the dark violence of approaching thunderstorm heads, but today was a bit different.
Set against the blue sky, the gentle breeze, and comfy lower 70F temps, it was a beautiful morning to stand on top of the nearby bluff and take some photographs of the sky.
As I mentioned before, the sky to me always looks like a Van Gogh painting. The web mentions that Van Gogh was a post-impressionist style artist, but I always had it in my head that he was more of an expressionist. Whatever you want to call it, I think the sky always looks like a Van Gogh painting.
It's always easy enough when the sun is involved to get the drama and the textures. You don't always need a thunderstorm around to photograph a few cool clouds throughout the day.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my photographs! If you are interested in joining in the fun, definitely stop by the contest and add some photos:
Until the next round, we'll see you soon!
