Let's clarify something about the pic above right off the bat. The reason I've put the "Record Signing" label on the dark, evil-looking castle is not since the update is evil or it's a scam or anything. It's just the fact that choosing to go that way (the Record Signing one) could prove to be more difficult than the normal mission route.
I'm gonna discuss the "why" here.
Record Signing Route:
Let's tackle the new route first, shall we?
I've seen some comments about Record Signing and people have mentioned the idea that once Record Signing has gone live, it will only be a matter of time before doing normal missions becomes obsolete and newbies could instead spam RS (Record Signing) mission without progressing in the game at all!
While part of it is true, there are a few requirements for that to happen:
- New people should go for all the Fan Club cards, or at least half of them, to have a decent chance of actually GETTING any cards.
- To promote Fan Club, people have to spend STARPRO - increasing starpro's value.
- To run the Record Signing missions, players have to spend lots of Energy (65% every 30mins) and that requires too many Pizzas if you ONLY intend to spam those missions.
- If you're spamming Record Signing, you're putting away your chance to earn any starbits, which is not that big a deal since you're getting Fans and Fans are worth STARBITS in the market.
- The big downside with spamming Record Signing is the fact that you wouldn't be earning any XP either. Now that's some game changer! And I do argue that if you're not going to hit at least a few Epic or Legendary cards, then it's gonna be a losing game for you!
Well, "losing game" is a bit extreme - since you'd still be getting a steady number of fans, but sacrificing your Normal mission is a foolish move (unless you have a plan).
To be perfectly honest, that last downside makes me shiver and gives me second thoughts about actually going for the FC-Series cards, but my collector side (and gambling side as well) is tingling my senses to jump right in :D
As for the Pros of Record Signing...
Well, I did bad-mouth Record Signing quite a lot, but the mission (I repeat if you've got a decent number of FC-cards) is quite OP. If you don't have shite luck like me and say, can get a Legendary FA card in 2000 Runs, Epic, in 100 Runs, etc... you'll be looking at ~30,000 Fans increase in a month (quite nice if your only concern is Fans) and that number is not easily achievable by owning Fans and doing normal missions.
Normal Missions Route:
Having discussed the Record Signing in the previous section, I think only a few points are left for this section. If you don't want exposure to Record Signing's risks (I mean, RNG system) and grindings, then Normal Missions are for you.
You won't have to worry about getting a new card every week to supercharge your FC-Series cards, and you won't need to spend the SP needed every week, either. But in return, you wouldn't get those weekly unique cards, either.
My Suggested Route:
I always say that going the "in-between" way is the best approach.
I don't want to lose out on the benefits Record Signing might bring to the table (we don't know how much the cards will sell out for), nor do I want to sacrifice my entire daily STARBITS income for the sake of an "IF".
So, I'm doing the Fan Club missions one by one. I have replaced my normal 1-hour missions with Fan Club Promotion missions. My entire daily SB income has surely taken a hit, but I see it as an investment in another department of the game to (hopefully) give the game more variation :D
Hope it was helpful :)
Take care and keep farming, stars.
Cheers~
