Hello Splinterlands players, how are you?
Together again another week for the amazing battle challenge, let's talk about the theme of the week, its features and the battle performed.
And here we go.
This week's theme is "GIANT ROC".
This is a common fire card that, at its first level, has 1 melee attack point, 2 speed points and 4 life points, costing 5 mana points to be added to the battlefield.
If we analyze only the status of Giant Roc based on its mana cost, we see that its cost benefit is average, and there are certainly cards that are more advantageous just for these points.
But the big difference is the standard abilities of Giante Roc, in this case: Reach, through which you can perform melee attacks even in the second position of the team, which proves to be very useful in conjunction with a powerful tank, and Flying, which increases your chance of dodging ranged or melee attacks, as well as in battles with earthquake rule Giant Roc will not suffer damage.
These two abilities act as a "compensation" for the Giant Roc's low status, especially its attack of only 1 point, which certainly proves to be reduced for a card with a 5 mana cost.
Starting at level 6 Giant Roc also acquires the ability Trample, through which if it attacks and kills your opponent it effects a new attack on the next monster on the team, which is very useful.
My current battle status is 1,384 rating and I'm in the "Silver III" league, so those are the characteristics of the Battle Weekly Challenge, and the choice of battle rules was as follows:
The battle has only 17 mana cap points, which is very little for Silver League, and the rules Aim True, whereby ranged or melee attacks do not miss and always hit the target, and Melee Mayhem, which allows melee creatures to attack from any position on the team.
My opponent in the last five matches has used mixed teams, so there was no way to know which team he would use.
As summoner for the fire team I chose Tarsa, the newest option from Chaos Legion, which grants the benefit of +1 melee attack point and +1 life point to all creatures.
As Tanker I chose the amazing Living Lava that has great statuses, further improved through Tarsa, and its ability to reduce melee and ranged damage, a nice tank.
In the second position, although the battle had the Melee Mayhem rule, Giant Roc to participate in the weekly challenge.
And to complete the team, since it would attack from any position, Radiated Scorcher for its melee damage.
So the battle beggins.
Round 1:
My opponent chose a life team made up of Chaos Knight, Stitch leech and cave slug, also with three melee attack cards, and Mother Khala as summoner.
In this round all my creatures attacked Chaos Knight reducing his armor to zero and for the opposing team, Chaos Knight attacked Living lava and Stitch leech and cave slug attacked and defeated Radiated Scorcher.
It was a bad start to the battle for me.
Round 2:
The dynamic of the second round was similar to the first round, with Living Lava and Giant Roc attacking Chaos Knight, but now Stitch leech and Cave Slug attacked Giant Roc, which did not defeat him but reduced his life to just 1 point.
Round 3:
In Round 3 Living Lava and Giant Roc defeated Chaos Knight, which was excellent for my team, Stitch leech attacked Living Lava and Cave Slug defeated Giant Roc.
From this round on I could see that the battle was well underway for me, as my tanker was stronger and still had damage reduction.
Round 4:
In Round 4 Living lava defeated Stitch leech and was attacked by Cave Slug who only reduced one point of his life.
Round 5:
Nothing much to be done, victory was already mine, just wait for Cave Slug's defeat.
Round 6:
What happened in this round with the Living Lava attack.
It was a very interesting battle with low mana cap, but it lasted a few rounds.
Giant Roc is a very versatile card that can be adapted to many teams with many different tanks, and is now proving to be much more powerful with the new summoner Tarsa.
It is certainly a card that I can use in several battles and will do so, as it has proven to be very useful.
I hope you enjoyed it.
