The Lava Spider is a new Chaos Legion card that helps you do snipe damage for only 3 mana. I have used it quite frequently in battles as it is a nice filler card when you have that little bit of mana left and aren't sure what to do with it.
The Rules and My Lineup
Noxious Fumes, Spreading Fury - 22 Mana Cap
Not the highest mana cap and the fact that it is a noxious fumes battle means that high health, dispel, cleanse and immunity become important but another lesser known ability that's useful is Snipe. Snipe helps to target some of the monsters that the opponent keeps at the back trying to wait the poison effects out.
Summoner: Tarsa for the additional health and melee attack boost
Position 1: Magnor for his high health, attack and taunt ability to absorb damage
Position 2: Furious chicken to put a bit of buffer in case the enemy uses explosion
Position 3: Tenyii Striker to target the enemy's back monsters
Position 4: Lava Spider to do snipe damage to the enemy's monsters
Was my strategy effective?
The strategy was quite effective although I was lucky that my opponent didn't have one of the cards that either self-heal or have immunity.
My opponent used a lot of low health cards which died with the first dose of poison at the end of the first round. This meant that an enraged Magnor with 8 attack damage was able to kill of my opponent's Unicorn Mustang with one hit.
The Lava Spider then delivered the fatal blow with a range attack thanks to the boost in speed.
What would I do differently?
Perhaps instead of Magnor, I could use The Forgotten One which has the immunity ability so that I don't have to worry about poison damage each round. It was pretty close with Magnor as he only had one life left before he killed the Unicorn Mustang. Cutting it close.
Thoughts on the Lava Spider
The Lava Spider is a very useful card and by pairing it with Tarsa, you get 5 health, 1 range attack and 2 speed for only 3 mana. Quite the steal. For the poison ruleset, that means it can survive for 3 rounds which is quite long and can target monsters that the opponent is trying to protect.
A level 4 one with 2 damage or a level 10 one with the poison ability would be really useful but at level 1, it can be pretty good already for Bronze and Silver leagues.
