Mucho más allá de participar en este concurso, mi deseo es de despertar el interés por el tema de la película que hace algún tiempo vi en casa y que me impactó mucho la trama. La película lleva por título en español “La decisión más difícil” cuya trama transcurre alrededor de una familia en la que una de sus integrantes (Kate) padece una enfermedad terminal (Leucemia) y la otra de las hijas (Anna) es producto de la ingeniería genética a fin de ser la donante de órganos, fluidos y células para la hermana enferma de cáncer. Esta última con 11 años demanda legalmente a sus padres para tener derechos sobre su cuerpo.
Far beyond participating in this contest, my desire is to awaken interest in the subject of the film that I saw some time ago at home and that had a great impact on the plot. The film is entitled in Spanish "La decisión más difícil " whose plot revolves around a family in which one of its members (Kate) suffers from a terminal disease (Leukemia) and the other daughter (Anna) is a product of genetic engineering in order to be the donor of organs, fluids and cells for her sister who is sick with cancer. The latter, who is 11 years old, legally sues her parents to have rights over her body.
No creo que sea una decisión muy fácil: es posible que en un principio, por desesperación tome tal determinación pero solamente al ver nacer a la pequeña y tenerla en mis brazos; me parece que cambio de opinión. Pienso que sería tener dos hijas a medio vivir, sufriendo las dos.
I do not think it is a very easy decision: it is possible that at the beginning, out of desperation I would make such a decision, but only when I see the birth of the little one and hold her in my arms; it seems to me that I change my mind. I think that it would be to have two daughters half alive, both suffering.

En la vida toca tomar decisiones, fáciles o no pero decisiones al fin. Recuerdo que una vez, mi papá por ser paciente diabético tuvo una recaída por insuficiencia renal. La señora que era su pareja no quiso tomar la decisión de la diálisis porque no pensaba en el reproche de mi padre, si llegaba a despertar. Entonces, me comunicó la recomendación del médico y dejó en mis manos la decisión, no había tiempo para extender la comunicación al resto de la familia. Era en extremo vital, de vida o muerte. Afronté la situación y cuando mi papá preguntó le dije que lo hice para salvar su vida.
In life you have to make decisions, easy or not, but decisions nonetheless. I remember that once, my father, being a diabetic patient, had a relapse due to renal failure. The lady who was his partner did not want to make the decision of dialysis, because she she thought of my father's reproach when he would wake up, if he woke up. So, she told me the doctor's recommendation and left the decision in my hands, there was no time to extend the communication to the rest of the family. It was extremely vital, life or death. I faced the situation and when my dad asked I told him I did it to save his life.
Tengo una amiga que hospitalizó a sus dos hijos; uno era donante de hígado del otro. El donante era su hijo menor pero ya podía tomar decisiones; sin embargo para ella no fue fácil aceptar eso. Hasta la casa estaba en venta pero gracias a Dios no fue necesario.
La muerte de un ser querido nunca es fácil de aceptar y en caso de enfermedad hacemos lo que creemos conveniente y agotamos los recursos con tal de restablecer su salud.
I have a friend who hospitalized her two sons; one was a liver donor for the other. The donor was her youngest son but he was already able to make decisions; however it was not easy for her to accept that. Even the house was for sale but thank God it was not necessary.
The death of a loved one is never easy to accept and in case of illness we do what we think is convenient and we exhaust all resources in order to restore their health.
