Feliz día estimados Amigos!
Today December 25th, after reading the invitation of our friend
through this initiative, I am ready to share a little of my Christmas from my personal experience through a brief journey through childhood to my stage as a mom and the celebration with my children of this beautiful holiday.
Lo lindo de los preparativos y la emoción de la participación
The beauty of the preparations and the excitement of participation
I remember that at home my mother would start in the middle of November with the excitement of the preparations for Christmas and somehow, the whole family felt an injection of joy and enthusiasm for the proximity of the celebration.
We would start the day with music (gaitas, carols, parrandas), in short, any song that was related to the most beautiful season of the year. My parents used to "taste us" with questions like: what do you want the Child to bring you? always warning us of the need to be cautious with what we asked for because in addition to us, he had to meet other children who would be waiting for their gift for that day.
Dad used to remind us of the story of Jesus and the humility of his birth and he would take the opportunity to point out the fact that even though he was born that way, he still managed to give us something nice on his birthday, that we should be grateful and be good children because this was the only thing he asked for.
The lights, my grandmother's hallacas and their special smell, the dulce de lechosa and the delicious pan de jamón were always present on our table for everyone's enjoyment.
As we grew up, we learned that although it was not the person of the baby Jesus as such who placed the gifts under our tree, he was the one who made sure that mom and dad had a job to earn an income and so, in his name, they could do it.
In my journey as a mother I have tried by all means to keep that flame alive. I have 4 children and from "Andrea to Moses" they love this time of the year. I feel that there are many things for which we should be thankful and within this context I try to make my children not only think of themselves but, to the extent of their possibilities, share what Jesus has allowed them to obtain. The magic of Christmas is in sharing and they have learned this very well
De cierto os digo, que si no os volvéis y os hacéis como niños, no entraréis en el reino de los cielos. Mateo 18:3
Moises, one of my twins, sings his favourite Christmas song, "Con mi burrito Sabanero" with me as he watches me make "la comida de Navidad". Isaac, although he is less inclined to sing, searches for Christmas songs on youtube and plays them, with a "good volume". )))and they both like to make sure their close cousins come over to share.
Despite the many vicissitudes that we, as Venezuelans, have had to go through, we have tried to keep intact the illusion, the emotion and the feeling that Christmas holds. There is a passage from the Bible that I always remember and at this time it comes to life because Jesus takes the children as an example and says:
Truly I say to you, unless you turn and become like little children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3
In our case, this text wants us to understand that it is through the look, the innocence and the faith of children that we can obtain God's blessings. By watching them, we will learn to be happy!
Today, grateful to all, for all that we have learned and with the certainty that we will soon be in better conditions of life, we wish you all the richest blessings of heaven and receive the gifts (spiritual and material) that you need to be well!
