Hola un gran abrazo a toda la comunidad Holos&Lotus, me presento ante ustedes con mi participación en el concurso Humor, risas y bienestar, con una pequeña parte de mis memorias divertidas de infancia, que me fueron confirmadas por mis padres, hermanos y mi tía Milagros. Este post relata historias de como yo comprendía mi lengua materna mientras lo estaba aprendiendo.
Hello, a big hug to the whole Holos&Lotus community, I come before you with my participation in the contest Comedy, laughter and well-being, with a small part of my happy childhood memories, which were confirmed to me by my parents, siblings and my aunt Milagros. This post relates stories of how I understood my native language while I was learning it.
Mi padre recuerda con mucho cariño y me relata cada vez que puede, que de bebe entre la edad de 1 a 3 años, yo le decía Tu padre puesto que escuchaba a los adultos a mi rededor diciendo cosas como dile a tu padre tal cosa o Llama a tu padre y yo, en mi mente infantil, identifique las palabras Tupadre como el nombre de mi papá, en vez de decir papá.
My father lovingly remembers and retells to me whenever he can. That as a baby between the ages of 1 and 3, I would call him Your father since I would hear the adults around me saying things like tell your father such and such or Call your father and I, in my childish mind, would identify the words Yourfather as the name of my Dad, instead of saying, Dad.
Luego en una época me dio por decirle a todos los líquidos de colores claros Chichigua, imagínense eso, mis padres estaban anonadados, de donde habría sacado yo semejante idea, mi tía argumenta que se basaba en el refresco de soda local llamado Chinoto, sin embargo también le decía así a la cerveza, lo cual lo hace un enigma sin responder.
Then at one time I took to calling all light-colored liquids Chichigua, imagine that my parents were dumbfounded, where would I have gotten such an idea, my aunt argues that it was based on the local soda called Chinoto, however, I also called beer that, which makes it an unanswered enigma.
Luego en unos meses después me invente una nueva palabra, paaeria, en vez de aprender la palabra panadería, lo cual si consideran lo difícil que es el hecho de comerse la letra N de esa palabra y aun así pronunciarla bien, es algo que tengo que celebrar, más aun por que presente una obra de preescolar como el Paaero pronunciando la palabra paaero en vez de panadero, me imagino lo divertido que debió ser para el público.
Then a few months later I made up a whole new word, Baaery, instead of learning the word bakery, which if you consider how hard it is to eat the letter missing in that word and still pronounce it right, is something I have to celebrate, more so because I presented a preschool play as the Baaery pronouncing the word Baaery instead of the word baker. I can imagine how much fun that must have been for the audience.
Por supuesto fui un niño muy creativo, lleno de inventiva, como pueden leer en estas palabras estaba lleno de vitalidad, puesto que me encantaba comer los monga del patio o mejor conocidos como Mangos, lo cual de hecho era mucho más difícil de pronunciar según mi mama, nunca entendió por qué invertía las vocales en esa palabra ni mucho menos el cómo llegue a aceptar el mango como monga, pobre mi mama intentando que yo dejase de inventar palabras.
Of course, I was a very creative child, full of inventiveness, as you can read in these words I was full of vitality, since I loved to eat the Monga from the yard or better known as Mangos, which was a lot more difficult to pronounce according to my mom, she never understood why I inverted the vowels in that word let alone how I came to accept mango as Monga, my poor mom trying to get me to stop making up words.
Y ahora la última y la más loca de todas, decía la palabra Kikula para referirme a película lo cual es especialmente irónico puesto que mis padres poseían un vídeo club y yo veía decenas de caricaturas o películas aptas para todo público a diario, entonces la palabra la usaba constante mente, lo cual según mi mama era una fuente interminable de carcajadas para todos en el local y en nuestro hogar.
And now the last and most crazy of all. I used the word Kikula to refer to the Spanish word Pelicula that translates into movie. This is especially ironic since my parents owned a video club, and I watched dozens of cartoons or movies suitable for all audiences daily. So the word I used constantly, which according to my mom was an endless source of laughter for everyone in the store and our family home.
