BOOK CLUB: THE INNER COMPASS // A PERSONAL ENCOUNTER [ENG-ESP]

Greetings, my dear friends. Welcome to a new installment of my blog.

The inner compass is a literary work that allows us to discover ourselves through a magical and very reflective walk through its 25 letters, written by the author Álex Rovira and that in each of these letters is immersed a teaching with which you can indirectly feel identified.

In my very special case I liked several of them, but among them stands out the letter number 10 entitled "In search of our own talents", which from my premises is an all-inclusive, we get frustrated when trying to perform an activity without first determining whether we actually meet the necessary skills to achieve it, it is fine no one is born learned and we should all be open to new teachings, but it would be a less hectic way if we initially identify what are those talents that characterize us? And here I am basically going to give part of the responsibility for the lack of knowledge of these actions to parents, since we are constantly immersed in work or other responsibilities, neglecting family sharing time.

As parents our responsibilities go beyond meeting the needs and requirements of our children, this involves several factors and among them is to devote valuable time to them in order to discover and enliven that talent or skills with which we are all born intrinsically, but we do not develop or perfect by ignorance of them.

A few days ago I was working together with the young people of my institution in the registration of the OPSU test, in which they must select a minimum of 3 university careers and a maximum of 7. All this in order to ensure a place in the various universities in Venezuela.

It turns out that after filling out some prerequisites when we arrived at the selection of the career many of the students remained static, others expressed to me not knowing what they wanted to be in the future? And the most worrying and alarming thing was that in the worst and very recurrent cases they would ask their other classmates what they were going to study and they themselves ended up selecting the same careers as their classmates without knowing what they consisted of or sharing the same interests, all because they had not given themselves the task of scrutinizing their talents or professional skills.

Now, what are the consequences of these bad decisions by young people? And how well the author himself touched on it in the first of his letters, because I simply took as a reference letter number 10, but if we dig deeper into each of these letters, all of them allow us to establish the same thread of ideas and it is about the decisions and actions that we take for our welfare.

The main cause of frustration, stress and depression is feeling the obligation to do something without liking it, in other words, when we do not love our work, we feel that it is an arduous burden to do it, but while you enjoy and love what you do it does not matter how poorly paid you are as long as you do things for passion and that is where it is important that you dust off that inner talent that you have had stored for so long and put into practice to get the satisfaction of being happy with what you do.

The decision and the attitude with which you decide to take your steps along the paths of life are decisive for you to live to the fullest and meet again with that inner self who will always be there waiting for you to decide to establish a pleasant and fruitful conversation with him.

Saludos, mis estimados amigos. Bienvenidos a una nueva entrega de mi blog.

La brújula interior, es una obra literaria que nos permite auto descubrirnos mediante un mágico y muy reflexivo paseo por medio de sus 25 cartas, escrito por el autor Álex Rovira y que en cada una de esas cartas está inmersa una enseñanza con la que indirectamente te puedes sentir identificada.

En mi caso muy especial me gustaron varias, pero entre ellas resalta la carta número 10 titulada “En busca de talentos propios”, la cual desde mis premisas es un todo incluido, nos frustramos al intentar realizar una actividad sin determinar primero si en realidad cumplimos con las habilidades necesarias para lograrlo, está bien nadie nace aprendido y todos debemos estar abiertos a nuevas enseñanzas, pero sería un camino menos ajetreado si inicialmente identificamos ¿cuáles son esos talentos que nos caracterizan? y aquí básicamente voy a otorgar parte de la responsabilidad del desconocimientos de estas acciones a los padres, ya que nos desvivimos continuamente inmersos en el trabajo u otras responsabilidades, descuidando el tiempo de compartir familiar.

Como padres nuestras responsabilidades van más allá de suplir las necesidades y requerimiento de nuestros hijos, esto involucra varios factores y entre ellos está el dedicar tiempo valioso a ellos para de esta manera poder descubrir y avivar ese talento u habilidades con los que todos nacemos intrínsecamente, pero que no desarrollamos o perfeccionamos por desconocimiento propio de los mismos.

Hace unos días estuve trabajando en conjunto con los jóvenes de mi institución en la inscripción de la prueba OPSU, en la cual ellos deben seleccionar mínimos 3 carreras universitarias y un máximo de 7. Todo ello con la finalidad de asegurarle un cupo en las diversas universidades de Venezuela.

Resulta que luego de llenar algunos requerimientos previos cuando llegábamos a la selección de la carrera muchos de los estudiantes se quedaban estáticos, otros me expresaban el no saber ¿Qué querían ser en un futuro? lo más preocupante y alarmante era que en el peor y muy recurrido de los casos ellos le preguntaban a sus otros compañeros que iban a estudiar y estos mismos terminaban seleccionando las mismas carreras que sus compañeros sin saber en qué consistían o compartir sus mismos intereses, todo ello porque no se han dado a la tarea de escudriñar sus talentos o habilidades profesionales.

Ahora bien, ¿Cuáles son las consecuencias de estas malas decisiones de los jóvenes? Y que bien lo tocaba el mismo autor en las primeras de sus cartas, pues simplemente tome como referencia la carta número 10, pero si indagamos a profundidad por cada una de estas cartas todas ellas nos permiten establecer un mismo hilo de ideas y es sobre las decisiones y acciones que tomamos en pro de nuestro bienestar.

La principal causante de la frustración, el estrés y la depresión es sentirte en la obligación de hacer algo sin que te guste en otras palabras cuando no amamos nuestro trabajo, sentimos que es una carga ardua realizarlo, pero mientras tu disfrutas y amas lo que haces no importa lo mal remunerado que seas siempre y cuando hagas las cosas por pasión y es allí donde es importante que tu desempolves ese talento interno que has tenido guardado por tanto tiempo y pongas en práctica el obtener la satisfacción de ser feliz con lo que haces.

La decisión y la actitud con la que decidas dar tus pasos por los senderos de la vida son determinantes para que vivas a plenitud y te reencuentres con ese yo interno quien siempre va estar allí a la espera de que decidas establecer una grata y fructífera conversación con él.
