it's colder now. a lot colder but the wind is light and after the cloudy days of october the sun is finally shining. the days are short so what used to be an afternoon walk is now evening an evening stroll . a memorable one by the sea.
most of my seashore walks are on the outer exposed rocks on the southern coast but to the west is Helgeroafjorden. the waters are more protected and calm.
the shore is generally more sand than rock. i have never explored much of this area but this evening we are headed for a small light at the tip of a narrow neck that jets out in the fjord
the sinking evening sun is a pale yellow. the temperature drops but so does the wind
when the sun disappears behind a cloud it feels like winter. definitely a frost tonight.
not much of a light to look at but it functions. this spit of land is well out in the fjord and you can't walk here when the tide is high. in the distance is Store Arøya. the island is inhabited but most of this area is an important sanctuary for nesting birds and more importantly for migrating birds.
we start back in order to be home by dark
we parked our car at a campground where there is a cove with a small beach called Omlidstranda. a cottage window reflected the sun as it set behind the trees on the other side of the cove
despite the cold we sat and imbibed the scene
and what a scene it was
thanks for joining us
i took all of these shots with my S22 phone. the last few have been edited to reduce shadow
