we had the fortune of visiting my brother in New Hampshire just around the time the foliage was at it's peak. it's a wonderful time of year with the crisp cool mountain air and the bright foliage shining in the sun and the muted fallen leaves covering the forest floor

the forest has a variety of both deciduous and evergreen trees and plenty of water, from tiny streams flowing down the hillsides to rivers cascading down the mountains
a beech leaf catching some of its last rays
oak leaves aren't among the brightest
wood sorrel and moss add green to the mix on the ground
