I spent my last weekend on the road this year in Spain, in the small town of AVILÉS.
The weather was just perfect, like a spring - around 19°C, clear air and perfect conditions for a slow walk along the coastline. So of course I took advantage of it. The coastal views will appear on my blog one day for sure!
However today I would like to share something much simpler.
This time it’s ULEX EUROPAEUS — a very common plant, nothing particularly rare or spectacular at first glance. But showing the world around us matters to me. Not only the unusual, extraordinary or exotic scenes but also the ordinary, everyday nature we often pass without noticing.
ULEX EUROPAEUS commonly known as gorse is an evergreen shrub native to Western Europe. It is easily recognizable by its sharp spines and bright yellow flowers, which often bloom even outside the typical flowering season. Despite its delicate-looking blossoms the plant is extremely resilient and well adapted to harsh coastal conditions, poor soils and strong winds. SoDo probably that is why I saw it in Aviles in north Spain.
Sometimes the simplest subjects tell the most honest stories — quietly reminding us that beauty doesn’t always need to be rare or spectacular to be worth noticing.
