Something I really like about urban photography, is that no matter where I do it, I always find common elements that each one shares.

And I'm not talking about the city dwellers, or the poles, buses, or any symbol.

It's about beauty.

I've talked to several photographer friends who refer to big cities as photogenic models.

That is, in theory it is easier to take a good picture in Tokyo, New York or London, than in a city in Latin America, or in any underdeveloped country.

I do not share this vision, although I understand it, because I do not deny the objective beauty in these great cities, which I know only from photos, and I hope to visit them someday.

Progress and technological advancement give countries an enviable infrastructure, and from the aesthetic point of view, the quality is undeniable.

However, we photographers from underdeveloped countries have a great task, and that is to find beauty in objectively decadent cities, but it is through our approach to the photographic fact, that a corner, a street or a walker, are converted into powerful images.

Algo que me gusta mucho de la fotografía urbana, es que no importa el lugar donde la haga, siempre encuentro elementos en común que comparte cada uno.

Y no me refiero a los habitantes de la ciudad, ni a los postes, autobuses, o cualquier símbolo.

Se trata de la belleza.

He conversado con varios amigos fotógrafos que se refieren a las grandes metrópolis como unas modelos fotogénicas.

Es decir, que en teoría es más fácil tomar una buena foto en Tokyo, Nueva York o Londres, que en una ciudad de Latinoamérica, o de cualquier país subdesarrollado.

No comparto esta visión, a pesar de que la entiendo, porque no niego la belleza objetiva ostentada por estas grandes urbes, que las conozco solo por fotos, y espero visitarlas algún día.

El progreso y el avance tecnológico les dan a los países una infraestructura, envidiable y desde el punto estético, es innegable la calidad.

No obstante, los fotógrafos de países subdesarrollados tenemos una gran tarea, y es hallar la belleza en ciudades objetivamente decadentes, pero es a través de nuestro acercamiento al hecho fotográfico, que un rincón, una calle o un caminante, son convertidos en imágenes poderosas.
