I decided to do things that would bring me happiness—and in abundance—even though I knew I’d end up exhausted. It was the best idea after running into the Telecommunications Company of Cuba S.A. (ETECSA) repair truck just outside my neighborhood. Three guys who clearly didn’t feel like working. They followed me back to the house because I had to return to show them the issue I’ve had since April 30th... Long story short, I felt desperate—and a few other things that aren’t very nice—when they told me they had no cable, that the company doesn’t have any cable, and that I should go complain on Friday at the territorial office. And I wonder: why did they even come? Did they not even know the issue I had, after I reported it on the very day the cable was stolen and called three times, eighteen days later, when no one showed up and no one seemed to care? It’s a complete lack of respect and consideration... As a result, I lost precious minutes from the journey I had planned to Vedado, where I needed to take care of some paperwork today. I was already racing against the clock. Thankfully, I managed to arrive in time. And from there, I went to take some street photos.
The door suggested a portal to escape this misery...
And I didn’t manage to cross it, because I looked up at the sky, and on the walls of the castle—now turned into a multifamily building, or who even knows anymore... I saw sea shells.
Vedado has that distinct charm—you come across aristocratic areas, plenty of food spots and other delicacies, and there are even still some cobblestone streets. One I particularly like is H Street, sloping gently down toward Línea Avenue.
In that area, you can find houses that have preserved their old splendor because their owners have spent a fortune restoring them to use as restaurants or hostels. I’ve also seen how property prices have dropped drastically in recent years, which many take advantage of to acquire those mansions—and who knows… maybe they’re making the deal of their lives.
…for the future.
The Universe is definitely a mental construct: where one sees misery, another sees prosperity and dwells in a world of happiness, rejoicing in abundance.
If there’s no cable, well, you have to bribe someone and it magically appears. That’s the kind of thing we’re almost constantly pressured to do here. I went and had an ice cream to cool off my mind.
Mmm, so good.
I assure you that I saw a lot of things and my SD card is full... but it takes time to organize them, edit them... and today I just want to share these.
😅
