It is March, and almost everywhere in the wild places I see the blooming yellow dogwood flowers.
It colors the landscape so fresh and creates a special mood.
In our area, the Common dogwood of the Cornus mas genus prevails.
Dogwood is known to bloom first and is one of the last trees/shrubs to bear fruit.
Its fruits are extremely useful with a number of applications in folk medicine. Medicinal potions and delicious juices are prepared from them, which have a burning, antipyretic and even hemostatic effect.
Due to the exceptional strength of dogwood, it is believed to bring health. That is why the dogwood finds such an important place in Bulgarian customs such as caroling and survakan, and it is also used in old Bulgarian customs for divination rites.
