Hello everyone, I have to say this is my first time writing a poem. I hope it cuts it.
So this is my entry for the challenge, please let me know how you find it.
All Alone:
I'm all alone in my big empty house,
with the drone of the air conditioner;
and the scampering feet if the mouse.
Unable to be mobile;
unable to get out into the sun.
I'm all alone, due to the pandemic.
I'm all alone in my long lonely street,
filled with beautiful houses on both sides of it;
and each houses a family within.
But we all stay indoors;
Because we're told to by the law.
So I'm all alone, due to the pandemic.
I'm all alone in my deserted town,
the streets are void of people;
the markets and shops are empty.
Not even animals are out there,
I guess they are also scared of the dreaded virus;
it's so scary out there.
So I remain alone, due to the pandemic.
I'm am alone because the law demands to,
failure to comply;
could earn me jail time or fines.
Because authorities have set up checkpoints,
and put everything that walks at gunpoints;
And a jail is the last place to be.
So I stay alone, due to the pandemic.
I'm all alone in my big empty house,
with the muted TV and my thoughts for company;
so many things go through my head.
So I take my paper and pen;
and I write to keep sane.
Because I'm still alone, due to this pandemic.
Thank you for reading.
This poetry was inspired by the events of the lockdown. How tight it had been and so lonely. Back then, movements had been so restricted it was even difficult to get what to eat. My poem was inspired by those dark days.
But now, a year later, the lockdown has been lifted somewhat. And there has been a bit of easing up. We can see family members and socialize a bit. But we still go through vigilant social distancing.
The future is bright.
And so I invite and
to try this out.
Thank you once more for reading, I hope you enjoyed it.
