Mauricio tiene 11 años, es el hijo del medio, su hermana Yesenia es la mayor y tiene 13 años, por otro lado, Reinaldo acaba de cumplir 7 años. Mauricio es huérfano de padre, este falleció después de celebrar el primer cumpleaños de su hijo, un ajuste de cuentas acabó con su vida. Después de ese hecho, Marilyn (la madre de los niños) se fue a vivir a casa de sus padres con sus dos hijos, ya era la segunda vez que enviudaba en circunstancias similares.

Con dos hijos que mantener, Marilyn empezó a trabajar en una ferretería del pueblo, en casa su mamá cuidaba a los nietos (sus hijos y los de su hermana). El sueldo no era mucho; sin embargo, aportaba al presupuesto familiar. Después de un año en la ferretería, una amiga le comentó que en el supermercado tendría una mejor remuneración, así que se cambió de trabajo.

En el hogar la convivencia era cada vez más difícil, 6 adultos y cuatro niños en una vivienda de interés social de escasos 70,00 metros cuadrados. Gritos y llantos durante todo el día, todos los días. Muchos hombres pasaron por la vida de Marilyn, hombres sin intención de asumir responsabilidades y con mala reputación, en el pueblo todos los residentes hablaban de sus fechorías.

Hasta que Pedro se interesó en ella. Él era un hombre 35 años, divorciado, con dos hijos grandes y una estabilidad económica que le permitía hacerse cargo de Marilyn y sus hijos. Al poco tiempo iniciaron su vida como una familia, a excepción de que Pedro no demostraba afecto hacia los niños, se limitaba a la manutención y corrección de manera violenta (gritos, castigos y golpes), mientras que Marilyn permanecía inmutable ante la situación. Mauricio siempre ha sido bastante tremendo y juguetón a tal punto de considerarlo imperativo, no le tema a nada, ni siquiera a la fuerza de Pedro.

Unos años después nació Reinaldo (hijo de Pedro y Marilyn) un niño que desde su nacimiento se ha convertido en el centro de atención, lleno de amor por parte de sus padres y hermanos. Marilyn se retiró de su trabajo apenas se enteró de que estaba embarazada por petición de Pedro. El ambiente en el hogar cambió, Pedro empezó a sonreír más a menudo y le dedica gran tiempo a su hijo, mientras que su esposa continúa lidiando con las tareas domésticas y sus tres hijos.

A diario Mauricio cometía alguna travesura, rayando las paredes, peleando con su hermana, escondiendo juguetes, manejando bicicleta dentro de la vivienda, trepándose en las rejas. Las quejas por parte de las maestras eran seguidas y su madre adopto la misma conducta que Pedro, todo lo soluciona con maltrato, por su parte la niña siempre ha tenido un comportamiento sereno, pero eso no la excluye de las ofensas de Pedro cuando comete una equivocación o simplemente cuando él no está de acuerdo con sus acciones, es responsable con sus estudios y colabora con su madre en casa.

Los años pasan y los niños están creciendo. Los hermanos mayores comparten la habitación y en ella solo tienen las camas, un traste viejo donde guardan la ropa y una caja con juguete y otros artículos. Mientras que en la habitación de Reinaldo todo es nuevo, dispone de un televisor grande solo para él, aire acondicionado y una decoración con buen gusto. Los cumpleaños de los niños mayores se celebran en casa con una torta y un regalo, en cambio, los cumpleaños del hijo menor son festejados en parques con la contratación de agencias de festejos quienes se encargan de entretener al cumpleañero y sus invitados y recibe regalos por doquier. Los preparativos inician con dos meses de anterioridad. Los fines de semana Pedro, Marilyn y Reinaldo gozan de paseos, comidas en restaurantes, parques y mucha diversión y en casa aguardan Mauricio y Yesenia. La preferencia de hijo es notoria, mientras que los hermanos mayores asisten a la escuela pública, Pedro le paga a su hijo la mejor educación.

Las muchachadas de Mauricio crecen con él afectando el buen vivir de los vecinos, ahora se orina por los pasillos de la residencia y en las plantas, también arroja orine y basura por las ventanas perjudicando a los apartamentos de abajo, raya las paredes de la urbanización con groserías, se pelea con otros niños y los golpea, lanza objetos desde su casa ocasionando daños a vehículos. Detrás de cada mal comportamiento está una golpiza por parte de Pedro y Marilyn observa desde un rincón de la casa. Al parecer los golpes son indiferentes, a los días vuelve con su mal proceder.

Los vecinos se quejaban directamente con Pedro, hasta que notaron el abuso físico con Mauricio y han decidido permanecer callados para evitar que los golpes se repitan. Pedro y Marilyn no son personas de diálogo, de acuerdos, de modales ni educación, Pedro salió a la calle a trabajar desde los 10 años para ayudar a sus padres y abandonó la escuela, es el mayor de 5 hermanos y gracias a su trabajo duro hoy por hoy goza de beneficios económicos que le permiten tener una hermosa vivienda, dos vehículos y su propio taller mecánico. Marilyn interrumpió sus estudios cuando quedó embarazada a los 16 años.

At home, living together became increasingly difficult: 6 adults and four children in a social housing unit of only 70.00 square meters. Screams and cries all day, every day. Many men passed through Marilyn's life, men with no intention of taking responsibility and with a bad reputation, in the village all the residents talked about their misdeeds.

Until Pedro took an interest in her. He was a 35 year old man, divorced, with two grown children and an economic stability that allowed him to take care of Marilyn and her children. Soon they began their life as a family, except that Pedro did not show affection towards the children, he limited himself to support and correction in a violent manner (yelling, punishments and beatings), while Marilyn remained unmoved by the situation. Mauricio has always been quite tremendous and playful to the point of considering it imperative, not afraid of anything, not even Pedro's strength.

A few years later Reinaldo (Pedro and Marilyn's son) was born, a boy who since his birth has become the center of attention, full of love from his parents and siblings. Marilyn retired from her job as soon as she found out she was pregnant at Pedro's request. The atmosphere in the home changed, Pedro began to smile more often and spend a lot of time with his son, while his wife continues to deal with the household chores and their three children.

Every day Mauricio would get into mischief, scratching the walls, fighting with his sister, hiding toys, riding a bicycle inside the house, climbing on the fences. The complaints on the part of the teachers were followed and his mother adopted the same behavior as Pedro, she solves everything with mistreatment, for her part the girl has always had a serene behavior, but that does not exclude her from Pedro's offenses when she makes a mistake or simply when he does not agree with her actions, she is responsible with her studies and collaborates with her mother at home.

The years go by and the children are growing up. The older siblings share a room and in it they only have their beds, an old chest where they keep their clothes and a box with toys and other items. While in Reinaldo's room everything is new, he has a big TV set just for him, air conditioning and a tasteful decoration. The older children's birthdays are celebrated at home with a cake and a gift, while the younger son's birthdays are celebrated in parks by hiring party agencies who are in charge of entertaining the birthday boy and his guests and he receives gifts everywhere. Preparations begin two months in advance. On weekends Pedro, Marilyn and Reinaldo enjoy walks, meals in restaurants, parks and lots of fun, and at home Mauricio and Yesenia are waiting for them. The son's preference is notorious, while the older siblings attend public school, Pedro pays for the best education for his son.

Mauricio's misbehavior grows with him affecting the good living of the neighbors, now he urinates in the hallways of the residence and on the floors, he also throws urine and garbage out of the windows damaging the apartments below, he scratches the walls of the urbanization with rudeness, he fights with other children and hits them, throws objects from his house causing damage to vehicles. Behind every misbehavior is a beating by Pedro and Marilyn watches from a corner of the house. Apparently the beatings are indifferent, after a few days he returns with his bad behavior.

The neighbors complained directly to Pedro, until they noticed the physical abuse with Mauricio and have decided to remain silent to prevent the beatings from happening again. Pedro and Marilyn are not people of dialogue, agreements, manners or education, Pedro went to the street to work since he was 10 years old to help his parents and dropped out of school, he is the oldest of 5 siblings and thanks to his hard work today he enjoys economic benefits that allow him to have a beautiful home, two vehicles and his own mechanic shop. Marilyn interrupted her studies when she became pregnant at the age of 16.
