Ahora estoy aquí, en lo más alto de esta ventana, gracias a estas patas y su fuerza de fricción tengo la habilidad de trepar por las paredes, es una gran ventaja contra ese animal peludo y furioso que me estaba hostigando. Sus ojos amarillos me dan mucho miedo, igual a una fiera salvaje. Me maúlla como si quisiera hablarme, pero no entiendo su idioma, solo sé que no voy a caer en su truco porque trata engañarme para comerme. Él no puede llegar aquí, así que respiro aliviado. A contraluz se puede observar mi esbelta figura, poseo un hermoso rabo que es tan largo como mi cuerpo.
Siempre escucho al humano gritarle a ese gato para que se vaya, sin embargo, con sus acciones hace lo contrario, le coloca comida. Eso ha traído graves consecuencias porque ahora aparecieron tres más, parece que se corrió la voz en la comunidad felina. En cambio, mi mamá es mucho más precavida, me ha dicho que tenga mucho cuidado porque hay algunas especies de arañas que son venenosas y que podrían acabar conmigo al instante, por eso solo ataco a las chiquitas, las que lucen inofensivas. En otras ocasiones, me decido por bocadillos voladores -mosquitos y moscas-, pero esos son cada vez son más escasos y difíciles de atrapar. Ojalá pudiera tener alas como ellos.

My older brother has taught me to be a great hunter, he assumed that role, after the death of our father.
On the other hand, my mom is much more cautious, she has told me to be very careful because there are some species of spiders that are poisonous and could kill me instantly, that's why I only attack the little ones, the ones that look harmless. On other occasions, I decide on flying snacks -mosquitoes and flies-, but those are becoming more scarce and difficult to catch. I wish I could have wings like them.
Ahora debo volver a casa, esta tarde iré de cacería con mi hermano a un lugar lleno de peligrosidades. Los manjares que allí se encuentran valen el riesgo. Allí iba con mi padre hasta que esa manada de gatos lo mató, ese día estaba con él. Lo acorralaron entre los cuatro, no había escapatoria. Recuerdo esos enormes colmillos clavados en su cuerpo frágil, quedó muy malherido y luego fue devorado.
Cuando vamos al patio trasero no solo debemos cuidarnos de los felinos sino de ese gran perro. La última vez fue un reto, pero pude salir bien librado de aquella persecución. El sitio está dividido por una puerta metálica. El humano quiere mucho a este animal, juega con él, incluso dice que es un carrocho. Para mí, es una amenaza y no tiene el tamaño de un bebé, no es pequeño como yo. Allí comprendí que todo depende de la perspectiva de donde se mire.
Llegué a la guarida, allí estaban mi mamá y mi hermano. Hicimos nuestra oración de costumbre y salimos a la aventura. Intentamos ser muy cautelosos para que el perro no nos percibiera. Sin embargo, al pasar por las hojas secas, el sabueso vio el movimiento y con su olfato empezó a buscarnos, me oculté debajo de una rama, mi color café me ayudaba al camuflaje, mas no me fijé que parte de mi cola quedaba al descubierto, el perro la movió con la pata y tuve que marchar a toda prisa. El cachorro es muy rápido, chasqueaba en el piso para morderme, mi presteza me permitió llegar a la puerta metálica y deslizarme por debajo.
Mi hermano estaba a salvo. Se quedó mirando mis destrezas, quería ver cómo me comporto en una situación de alto riesgo, ya que algún día me soltará y debo utilizar mis cualidades y poner en práctica las estrategias defensivas que me ha enseñado. Él, con una seña, me indicó para dónde ir, cabeceé y flexioné mis patas delanteras y me puse muy atento a todo el contexto. Arriba se escuchaba el revoloteo de algunas aves en el árbol de nísperos. Había una cueva de hormigas cerca, empezamos a comer, ellas corrieron desesperadas, las más osadas intentaron picarnos, pero sus tácticas no le sirvieron de nada, estábamos dándonos un gran banquete.

El hombre buscó un garapiño y alcanzó algunos nísperos. Luego, se fue.
Nos quedamos resguardados, esperando que la tranquilidad presidiera para marcharnos. Salimos del escondite, a través de una señal, mi hermano me advierte de otro intruso, era un pájaro negro formidable. Nuevamente, nos separamos y el animal fue detrás de él. Tuve la libertad para escapar y así lo hice. Escuchaba el graznido, picoteando reiteradamente. Estaba muy asustado, pero me llené de valentía y entré otra vez, tenía una maravillosa idea.
Una cola serpenteante quedó en el piso distrayendo al agresor, mientras las dos lagartijas huyeron a su guarida, después de una afanosa expedición de sinsabores.

Again, we parted ways and the animal went after him. I was free to escape and so I did. He listened to the squawk, pecking repeatedly. I was very scared, but I filled myself with courage and went in again, I had a wonderful idea.
A snaking tail remained on the floor distracting the aggressor, while the two lizards fled to their lair, after a busy expedition of disappointments.
