I'm a women's writing group here in Bali that meets weekly. We've been unable to meet for two months because we've been under restricted movement orders (PPKM) because of the Covid situation.
So here is a little piece I wrote pre-PPKM. As we went around the table checking in, we were to each choose a villainous super-power, then we paired up and wrote about each other's super-power. My partner was a "black widow" - someone who devoured her lovers. Here is as far as I got in the timed write:
Sitting in the sidewalk cafe in Paris, she watched the passing pedestrians, trolling for her next tasty meal. She had very specific dietary preferences. Less about actual coloring: a blond blue-eyed Scandinavian or dark South African with eyes like melted chocolate, it didn’t matter so much. Physique was what she was after, stamina. She liked to play with her food. Fifty feet away, she locked in on her target: he looked like an American tourist, one of those who frequented his local cross-fit gym. He looked at this phone as if following a map, likely intent on getting to the next tourist attraction on his list. He stopped, frowned, and looked around. He approached her to ask a question. Ahh! These tourists were so easy, not such a challenge to hook, but a tasty little snack. She smiled dazzlingly and she knew she had him in her thrall. He sat, and soon she had progressed from talking about the sights to provocative flirting.
He couldn’t believe his luck. His fiancé had dumped him three days before the wedding and hurting, he had jumped a flight to Paris, in search of solace, or something. He’d needed some place new because everyone in his hometown knew about his being left at the altar. What he needed to soothe his wounded male ego was a romp with a beautiful French woman.
