Saludos comunidad de hive para mi nuevamente es grato compartirles algunos acontecimientos que ocurrieron a través de mis años de niñez y de juventud en la Catedral de Barquisimeto.
Greetings hive community, for me it is once again a pleasure to share with you some events that occurred during my childhood and youth in the Cathedral of Barquisimeto. Lara State Venezuela
Esta catedral cuenta con una reseña histórica que a continuación les comparto: fue diseñada por el arquitecto por Jahn Bergkamp; terminada en 1968 y es una obra de ingeniería bastante avanzada para su época. Esta catedral nada convencional tiene forma de paraboloide hiperbólico, dos alas unidas a través de una torre central y requirió de extensivos cálculos estructurales así como extremo cuidado y precisión en la construcción. El techo de la catedral está formado por paneles de acrílico sostenidos por una red de nervios hechos con cables de acero post tensados recubiertos de concreto. Su forma exterior es de una flor boca abajo y posee un campanario externo a la edificación. Se encuentra en la avenida Venezuela entre avenida Simón Rodríguez y calle 30.

This cathedral has a historical review that I will share with you: it was designed by the architect Jahn Bergkamp; completed in 1968 and is a work of engineering quite advanced for its time. This unconventional cathedral has a hyperbolic paraboloid shape, two wings joined by a central tower and required extensive structural calculations as well as extreme care and precision in construction. The cathedral's roof is formed by acrylic panels supported by a network of ribs made of post-tensioned steel cables covered with concrete. Its exterior shape is that of an upside down flower and it has a bell tower outside the building. It is located on Venezuela Avenue between Simón Rodríguez Avenue and 30th Street.
Lo peculiar de esa iglesia es que la luz solar pasa a través de los cristales, así que te puede dar mucho calor, cuando las misas las realizan a pleno medio día o a mitad de mañana. Sus paredes externas son de vitrales de figuras religiosas, es inmensamente grande con varias alas.
También recuerdo que antes ella estaba como hundida no fue sino hasta hicieron algunos rellenos para nivelarla con la parte externa.
Ahora bien en otro orden de ideas les quiero contar que de pequeña los domingos siempre nos llevaban a mi hermano y a mí a escuchar la misa de las 6:00 pm, recuerdo que siempre me quedaba como hipnotizada mirando ese cristo que está sujeto en el aire por momentos me imaginaba que abría los ojos, que me miraba, o veces pensaba y si se cae y si se suelta. Y en esa imaginaciones mías me la ´pasaba toda la misa, ya luego cuando salíamos recuerdo que había una mata de tamarindo y mi hermano y yo nos subíamos a ella, mientras que mi mama conversaba con sus amistades afuera de la iglesia siempre era divertido jugar afuera de la iglesia, es un lugar donde pega mucha brisa fresca.
The peculiar thing about that church is that the sunlight passes through the glass, so you can get very hot, when masses are held in the middle of the day or in the middle of the morning. And in that imagination of mine I spent the whole mass, and then when we went out I remember that there was a tamarind tree and my brother and I climbed it, while my mom talked with her friends outside the church was always fun to play outside the church, it is a place where it hits a lot of cool breeze.
Luego crecí ya era adolescente, entonces en lo que aquí se le llama las misas de aguinaldo en el mes de diciembre nos reuníamos todos los que vivíamos cerca e íbamos con un representante que a veces era la mama de uno de nosotros mismos que nos acompañaba a las 5 de la mañana a la Misa era entretenido además porque el coro de la iglesia cantaba muy bonito. Al salir de la misa patinábamos jugábamos voleibol, loco tocando, fusilado, despertábamos a todo el mundo en el edificio llegábamos a eso de las 6:30 am y todos como que no puede ser hoy es domingo….jaja…
Then I grew up and I was already a teenager, then in what here is called the aguinaldo masses in the month of December we gathered all those who lived nearby and went with a representative who sometimes was the mother of one of us who accompanied us at 5 am to Mass was entertaining also because the church choir sang very nice. When we left the mass we skated we played volleyball, crazy playing, shot, we woke up everyone in the building we arrived at about 6:30 am and everyone like that can not be today is Sunday....jaja
Y no puedo dejar pasar la procesión de la Divina Pastora, todos los 14 de Enero la caminábamos desde Santa Rosa hasta la catedral, entre una multitud de gente que llegaban de todas partes de Venezuela para realizar peticiones o pagar promesas por los milagros cumplidos. Son muchos los testimonios de sanación que se le atribuyen a esta Patrona del Estado Lara. Según cuentan en 1855, se desató en Venezuela una terrible epidemia de cólera, donde murió mucha gente, no valía medicina, ni nada de lo que hacían resultaba la gente seguía muriendo hasta que un día, un grupo de mujeres y hombres decidieron sacar a la virgen por las calles en peregrinación, se dice después de ese día ceso la epidemia en el Estado Lara. Probablemente son actos de fe, de miles de personas unidas en una sola plegaria.
And I can not pass up the procession of the Divine Shepherdess, every January 14 we walked from Santa Rosa to the cathedral, among a crowd of people who came from all parts of Venezuela to make requests or pay promises for miracles fulfilled. There are many testimonies of healing attributed to this Patron Saint of the State of Lara. As they say in 1855, a terrible cholera epidemic broke out in Venezuela, where many people died, no medicine was worth, or anything they did, people kept dying until one day, a group of women and men decided to take the virgin through the streets on pilgrimage, it is said that after that day the epidemic ceased in the State of Lara. These are probably acts of faith, of thousands of people united in a single prayer.
También dicen que los sucesos del terremoto ocurrido aquí en Venezuela en 1812, el templo donde se veneraba la Divina Pastora fue destruido, pero su imagen quedó milagrosamente intacta, hecho que reforzó la creencia de todas las personas de Santa Rosa de que la Virgen quería quedarse siempre entre ellos para protegerlos.
They also say that the events of the earthquake that occurred here in Venezuela in 1812, the temple where the Divina Pastora was venerated was destroyed, but her image remained miraculously intact, a fact that reinforced the belief of all the people of Santa Rosa that the Virgin always wanted to stay among them to protect them.
Mi opinión personal crecí viéndola, acompañándola cada 14 de Enero y miles de personas también, se cuentan por miles sus milagros, también existen y se cuentan muchas anécdotas ocurridas cada 14 de enero, estas son contadas por los asistentes a la procesión pasan de boca en boca a través de las generaciones para quedar para la historia. ¿cuestión de fe?, ¿de creencia?, ¿de oración?, su imagen trasmite paz, una serenidad, Y soy creyente de sus milagros.
