Termino la sexta edición del Clásico Mundial de Béisbol y se reafirma este torneo como el más fuerte, importante y seguido de este deporte alrededor del planeta. Fue sin dudas, uno de los eventos de más nivel de los efectuados en la historia, con partidos memorables que mantuvieron en vilo a millones de fanáticos.
A los cuartos de final clasificaron cinco equipos de América, dos de Asia y uno de Europa, y salvo el partido entre Dominicana y Sudcorea (ganado por nocao por los primeros) todos los demás duelos fueron en extremo disputados y emotivos. Las semifinales nos brindaron dos juegazos, en los cuales Estados Unidos derrotó 2-1 a Dominicana y Venezuela, viniendo de abajo, venció a los italianos 4-2.
La gran final no defraudó a nadie, pues en un gran encuentro, con dominio casi total del picheo, los venezolanos se llenaron de gloria al derrotar 3-2 a los norteamericanos, y alcanzar el primer título de su historia en estos certámenes. Fue Venezuela el equipo más corajudo y peleador de toda la competencia y acumuló un total de seis victorias con apenas una derrota (frente a los dominicanos por estrecho margen).Remontaron primero al vigente campeón en cuartos, el equipo japonés, luego a los bambinos en semifinales, y por ultimo vencieron al favorito equipo norteño. Justo resultado para un conjunto, donde la figura principal, fue el colectivo en pleno, pese al destaque de Eugenio Suarez, Maiquel Garcia, Eduardo Rodríguez, Wilker Abreu o el cerrador Palencia.
Dentro de los puntos que aún debe mejorar el Clásico Mundial se encuentra el tema de los permisos de los jugadores, que aun depende mucho de cada club en particular o de las aseguradoras (por culpa del tema seguro, los tres principales jugadores de Puerto Rico no pudieron intervenir en el torneo).También sería más provechoso, si cada país pudiera contar con todos sus jugadores, al menos unos días antes, para llegar al evento con un mayor team work.
