Hey!
Welcome to this Weekly Challenge, this time, featuring the Rise of the Commons rule. When Rise Of The Commons is in effect, only Common and Rare Monsters can be used in battles.
Rise of the Commons
This rule is just the ban of Epics and Legendaries in the battlefield, so is not really a rule that you can profit from. An observation though; you can still use Epic or Legendary Summoners.
Even though Epics and Legendaries are not allowed, Gladius are, and some of them are so strong that they could pass as Legendaries. One good example is Fina Voxom; she’s a Legendary so she wouldn’t be allowed, however… Isgald Vorst is a Common card so she is allowed and she’s practically Fina’s twin sister.
So, it’s always important to understand the basis of this game, sinergy,… and… I don’t havemuch else to say about Rise of the Commons… learn how to use your Commons and Rares. And build up your Gladiators set by competing in Brawls.

Battle #1
Ruleset
Lineup & Strategy
This battle was done in the Silver League. Fortunately for me, I had a slight advantage when it comes to card levels. No particular prediction here, I just used the typical and very effective tactic of using a strong Gladiator.
- Lobb Lowland, my highest level Soulbound Summoner, here to use my Gladius.
- As a tank the Terraceous Grunt. Not particularly strong, however for six Mana points it gives me a great deal of Hit Points, which gives my Gladiator enough time to decimate my opponent’s team. Besides, alongside Lobb’s Speed debuff and his Dodge ability, he has a pretty good chance of evading physical attacks.
- Then, the Mycelic Morphoid. I had one Mana point left, so I put him there as an extra nuisance. It ended up killing the Coastal Sentry with it’s Thorns.
- Next, as a Healer, the Goblin Psychic.
- In fourth position, my Gladius, Katrelba Gobson. I don’t think you need an explanation. She can single-handedly destroy an entire team.
- At last, to avoid possible Sneak attackers, maybe another Katrelba, the Regal Peryton. At level three, it’s six points of Speed and Flying ability makes it a hard to hit target.
I do think that my lineup was pretty solid, although I was pretty lucky with my opponent’s choice of cards. Is not that his strategy was bad, but he drained a lot of Mana, just with the Coastal Sentry and that is a lot of pressure in one card.
Battle #2
Ruleset
Lineup & Strategy
This battle was done during a Bronze leveled Splinterlands tournament, no Legendary Summoners allowed. In this case we have a Blast rule and not much Mana to maneuver. When I’m under this situation I rather use a very high Mana Monster, so I had it very clear with my strategy.
- Gladiators where part of the ruleset, so I picked Tarsa to save Mana.
- As a tank, the Nimbledook Scout, brand new Common card from the Rebellion Edition.
- Next, Chimney Wallstop, doing all the damage. He’s perfect for this rulesets; the Blast rule is a great ally for Gladiators, because of their Bloodlust ability. And particularly, Chimney Wallstop, when killing he rebuilds his Armor making him quite problematic.
- With two Mana points left I placed the Flame Mephit, another Rebellion card. I bet on her Flying ability to defend the backline.
That’s it for this post guys!
