Splinterlands Art Contest
It's another week and opportunity to be a part of the contest. Even though I haven't won anything yet I am sure I will win soon. Big congratulations to last week's winners- top notch creativity. Y'all are giving us a run for our money.
So this week I decided to try something different. Perhaps I'll get as much attention as I wish I could
I call this piece "Hell's kiss".
I went out of my comfort zone here and took my two favourite Flame characters. I knew I wanted them in a dramatic pose and that's how I landed on the "Hell's kiss" piece.
What if they were in a romantic relationship?
Process
1-As always I start with a rough sketch, I knew I wanted a dramatic pose so I came up with the hell's kiss pose. Basically just them in pre kiss pose. Once the rough sketch is in I move on to the line art. Not much detail on the line art because I wanted this piece to be mostly painted.
2- And then I put in the flat colours, using the line art as an outline I lay in the colours. On a separate layer under the lineart.
4- Next I paint in light red and orange colours, adding more depth to the piece, I also render this with the blur brush as well. The lighter colours act like the lights from the surrounding bouncing off their body. Here I also do a little rendering on Idrii's hair, I wanted her hair to look like a flowing glowing flam hair.
6- almost finished with the piece I add in some rim lighting. Rim lights are the lights that reflect on the edge of the body, I use an off white color for this and with enough rim lighting I then move on to paint in the background.
I colour a gradient of dark red and black for the background. Next I paint surrounding fire, giving this intense dramatic feel to the piece, The "Hell's Kiss". I paint in some more flames and fire crackles. Once all that is done our piece is finally complete and ready.
This piece took roughly 18 hours to work on.
I used both the Medibang and Krita software to work on this. I used Medibang for the sketch, line art and flat colours and finished it off on Krita
