Amor Fati is the solid approach to getting the best out of any situation: to treat every moment, no matter how difficult, as something to be embraced rather than avoided.
Chaos has cometh
It's been five days since people are opening their chaos legion packs. Most of us pulled great deals of cards. These cards that we get from the packs will surely increase our collection and some actually bought specific cards that will help them in the battle.
For this post, I would like to focus on players who only enjoy playing the game and also enjoy flipping cards in the market. Personally, the best time to flip cards is when they are first released that is why I think this is the perfect time to talk about it.
One of the thoughts that will ruin a card flipper's mind is when he purchase a card and did not make any profit from it -- REGRET! to help with that regret, I would like to introduce to the community a Latin phrase, Amor Fati.
The Latin term Amor Fati means "love of one's fate." The Stoic philosophers Epictetus and Marcus are credited with first mentioning and discussing this topic in their intellectual works. Friedrich Nietzsche, on the other hand, would be the first to adopt and emphasize the phrase molding, incorporating it as a unique and important value of his philosophy.
Friedrich Nietzsche dedicated his life to writing books about philosophy, he retreated to the Swiss Alps and excluded himself from the world to infer a period of deep self-reflection. However, success is not sweet for Nietzsche. He left his family and career in the academy to pursue freelance writing and ended up dying without finding success in his writings. His publications were not well received, and his thought was mostly ignored. His life was marked by failure after failure, agony after misery, till he met a tragic death. Of course, we now know that after Nietzsche's death, you went on to become a worldwide sensation.
In , regret and failure can also happen when you find your investments lose profits.
Failing to make a profit from a pack or card purchase/flip is not new and is possible to happen to everyone. Even the regret of seeing our beloved Djinn Oshannus price go down to $20 from its $48 peak last few seasons is also heartbreaking.
Thoughts like, "I should have sold my Djinn Oshannus last week for $40 at least" would probably come to your mind. It is a sentiment or rather a declaration against a tendency to regret to assume one could have retained more control over the outcomes and conditions of their reality to have done differently.
Now, what should we do when we experience those regrets? My formula to solve that is Amor Fati: to fall in love with what we have in front of us and actually experience the use of the cards and the Chaos Legion packs we purchased.
I will not discuss this from a mathematical perspective but to say at least about investments and their figures, the cards/packs you bought still have their value. It may not be instant but in the long run, they will help you. Ultimately, the question may not be how much you appreciate your assets right now, but how much you could and how. And it's possible that thinking about things in a lovely way is the only way to experience their beauty. The prices of the cards you bought may be lesser than the time you bought them yesterday, but at least you have enjoyed using them and earning from the collection power that those cards give you.
Buy early or wait for the prices to go down?
Now what? Would I buy more CL packs or more CL cards? the answer to that is simple. Only invest money that you can afford to lose then enjoy the fun and excitement that your purchase will give you.
Like what Friedrich Nietzsche's life tought us, An ideal life includes the willingness to accept the way things have gone and will go in order to live a life that attempts to make you hate it virtually every minute and still makes you respond, "Yes, I love it."
