Damour's weekly breakdown of the Battle mage secrets
CHALLENGE RULES
RULESET: Reverse Speed
Description:
Units with lower speeds will attack before units with higher speeds. Attack Accuracy based on speed will also be reversed.
- Units with lowest speed have the highest chance of evading Melee and Ranged attacks.
- Units with the Bloodlust ability will increase speed after killing a unit.
- Avoid using Slow as this will help your opponent.
- Also beware of monsters with Enrage and Last Stand, these abilities increase speed when activated
- Do not forget summoner buffs if you give speed to your team you will be slower. If you take away speed from your opponent they will be faster.
Ruleset Nerfs
| Rulesets that don't support | Reasons |
|---|---|
| Takes away the void armor counter. You could go with speed as the winning option here. |
Ruleset Buffs
| Rulesets that support | Reasons |
|---|---|
| Having high armor will help you absorb some extra damage. | |
| Divine shield will protect you from one source of damage. |
Monsters breakdown
Buffs
Shield/Void
Shield reduces the damage from melee or ranged attacks while the Void reduces the damage from the magic attacks. Since the damage from the Blast effect is effectively halved already, having another ability like Shield or Void can reduce it further by half, and can be even reduce to zero damage.
Repair
Having the repair ability allows you to repair the armor of your monsters.
Protect/Void armor
Having high armor will help you absorb some damage. Similarly for magic, you can use Void Armor ability to protect against magic. Protect ability can give you two additional armor while the Repair ability will help you regain your damaged armor.
Nerfs
Enrage
Once triggered from damage your monsters speed will increase making you slower in this rule set
Bloodlust
Once triggered from kills your monsters speed will increase making you slower in this rule set
Last stand
Once triggered from being your last monster its speed will increase making you slower in this rule set
Headwinds/Demoralize/Silence
You can still survive longer if you can reduce the damage from the opponent's attack. Abilities like Demoralize, Headwinds, or Silence reduces the melee, ranged, and magic damage respectively will help you achieve this strategy this will be an ideal way to hurt their damage output.
Summoners breakdown
| Summoners buffs | Reasons |
|---|---|
| Obsidian | Extra magic damage works very well unless you expect an anti magic play. |
| Grandmaster Rathe | Giving everyone void armor can be particularly difficult to get through regardless of the damage type. |
| Immortalis | Anti magic with void or giving everyone shatter can be painful for opponents who have gone with magic or armor plays. |
| Tarsa | Extra melee damage works very well unless you expect an anti melee play. |
| Summoners nerfs | Reasons |
|---|---|
| Summoners that give speed | This is something to avoid in this ruleset as it has the opposites effect it will slow you instead of making you faster. Do not use. |
Without further delay lets dig into a battle to see some of our recommendations in action.
The top player chose Brighton Bloom most likely for the flying buff for extra miss chance.
The bottom player chose the Lily summoner.
Key here is slow monsters as well as the sustain here double triage and tank heal last but not least is the double resurrect on the tank from the bottom player.
