Overview
Welcome back Splinterlands battlemages to another edition of "For Guild & Glory," my article series that looks at how my guilds and I performed during the most recent brawl cycle #105. You can see my last report for #104 here.
This cycle, moved back up to Tier 3, so my main account
defended Fray 16 - Modern Silver Gold Foil. The move from bronze to silver will definitely be a much bigger challenge for my GF collection. Turning to my alt accounts,
continued its defense of Fray 14 - Modern Bronze Gold Foil for
, and
defended Fray 15 - Wild Silver Gold Foil for
. Let's get to the action!
DuceCrypto & Shield of Glory
Overall, my guildmates and I were pleased with the 5th place finish out of the 10 guilds in Tier 3, as this was an improvement on our finishes in our previous three attempts at this tier. We beat out all of the guilds we expected to beat and finished less than 10 wins away from Immortal Gods in 3rd place. These are positive signs of growth and definitely some food for thought as we consider different frays and other ways we can improve our results for the next cycle.
Leading the way for us in this brawl was with a 7-1 result, and another four brawlers in our Top 5 finished with a win rate greater than 66%. I battled against a full slate of competition in Fray 16 - Modern Silver Gold Foil and was hoping to come away with a positive 5-4 record. However, I struggled just a bit with the stronger competition and finished with only a 3-6 record, as I lacked some key GF legendaries in some spots where they would have given me a much better chance to win.

Of these matchups, Battle #6 turned out to be the most interesting battle, a close encounter that pit my Kelya against their Mylor. I thought my opportunity strategy in this holy protection battle was strong, but the melee attacks fell apart in the face of the repeated thorn damage.
TreyCrypto & The 420 Syndicate
Over in The 420 Syndicate, we were riding HIGH off our first-ever win in Tier 2, but we knew this time around would be much more challenging against stronger opposition. When the dust settled, the guild finished in 4th place, which I think is a bit more representative of where we are at present. Although I think we are better than our 55-59 overall record, we still finished at the top of the pack behind the runaway Top 3 guilds in this brawl.
The wise battlemage led us with his impressive 7-1 record, followed by a strong 7-2 finish from
. I managed to round out our Top 5 brawlers with a decent 4-2 record in Fray 14 - Modern Bronze Gold Foil, but I really should have had at least one more win.

Battle #5 against the Earnest Samurai JPN guild was definitely the pick of the bunch for me in this brawl. I especially enjoy looking back at battles where each side picks different splinters, so this one was very interesting to me and quite close too. Plus it's not every day you find me picking a life summoner for battle. 😉
Shaelien & ZenSports
ZenSports happened to also be in the same brawl group as The 420 Syndicate and finished two places further down in sixth. Luckily, shaelien plays in Fray 15 - Wild Silver Gold Foil, a different fray than treycrypto, so I was able to avoid an awkward matchup between my two alt accounts. Overall, ZenSports finished a place or two lower than I expected, but we were only six wins below The 420 Syndicate in fourth place, so still a respectable result with room for improvement.
For this brawl, we were led by , who cruised to a tidy 6-1 record, with another three brawlers from the Top 5 finishing with a 66% win rate. On the other hand, shaelien struggled again with the tougher competition in a silver league fray, winning only one of six battles. I really need to revamp the delegations for this account and consider a few specific rentals to boost my results.

#3 Alric vs. Malric --> REPLAY
#4 Owster vs. Thaddius --> REPLAY
#5 Delwyn vs. Kelya --> REPLAY
#6 Alric vs. Owster --> REPLAY
Of all the battles, I think the first is the most interesting, as we both chose different splinters. If my earth summoner was at silver level instead of bronze level, I think I would have had a better chance here. A max silver summoner would have triggered the amplify ability of Queen Mycelia and made my strategy of putting the thorny morphoid as rear tank much more deadly.
The Gladius Cases
Check out the spoils from my haul of merits from the most recent brawl and ranked battle rewards. Still no GF Gladiators for either of my accounts to use, but at least Duce opened up 2x the minimum number of rares from three cases.

Brawl #106 Preview
Looks like things are getting a little bit more crowded in Tier 3, as we now have more than 10 guilds competing. Therefore, the Tier 3 guilds will be split into two smaller brawls, so SHIELD OF GLORY only has five other challengers this cycle, with Immortal Gods and Legendary Dragons being our strongest competition.
Back in Tier 2, THE 420 SYNDICATE has a winnable brawl, with none of the 10 contesting guilds ranked inside the Top 100. We will need to fill all the frays to have a chance, but sadly, we are still short two brawlers to defend Frays 11 and 16. ZENSPORTS has a much tougher draw for brawl, with four guilds in the Top 100, including 19th-ranked Immortal Army and 23rd-ranked Plan B.
Thanks as always to my faithful readers for making it to the end. In case you missed it, last week I shared my strategy for the Riftwatchers presale. I will be pushing harder to write more Splinterlands content than just brawl reports, so if you have any topics you'd like me to cover or just have some feedback about this report, please sound off in the comment section below.
Good luck with your brawls. I'll see you in the Splinterlands!
