Overview
Welcome back Splinterlands battlemages to another edition of "For Guild & Glory," my brawl report series covering all the action from my three accounts: in Tier 4 with
from the Kingdom of Glory [KoG] alliance,
in Tier 3 with the
alliance YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) and
in Tier 3 with the always lively
. You can see my last report for Brawl #147 here.
Before I get started, I want to point out this review is for Brawl #148, which actually ended on April 27. I've been on a bit of a holiday recently in Barcelona and now Ibiza for the opening party at Ushuaia and Club Hi April 29. Maybe I'll even do some coverage of my vacation trip with sightseeing and party reviews later this week, so if you're into that kind of content give this account a follow and check back in a few days. But for now, let's get to the brawl action!
DuceCrypto & Shield of Glory
Shield of Glory was unable to make it two Tier 4 wins a row after finishing on top in Brawl #147. This was a very tough group with four Top 10 guilds and several other strong guild alliance members. Finishing behind Immortal Gods was not a huge surprise since it is one of the strongest and most well known guilds in the game, but coming in third place four wins behind [RKO] Outta Nowhere was a bit of a shock. Ultimately, we should be doing better than 112 wins and 75 losses, so hopefully Shield of Glory will get back to stronger performances in the near future. Because of the weaker placement, we received 143 crowns, 8171 merits and about 143 SPS.
While we didn't have any undefeated brawlers this cycle, we had a quartet of brawlers finish with one loss: ,
,
, and
. My record was decent enough at 6 wins and 3 losses in Fray 18 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League, but for us to finish at the top of the standings, I really should be doing better than a 66% win rate.
After the brawl is over, I always look to see how I fared against the brawlers from the other top guilds. from Immortal Gods has been a familiar opponent for me ever since we first joined Tier 3, so I knew that to expect since he typically favors Water for Isgald Vorst when possible, and especially so in this 43-mana melee mayhem and enrage battle. I didn't take full advantage of the ruleset, playing only two melee monsters, but in the end I was one miss away from taking down the battle despite none of my tank healers getting to heal my slipspawn. This type of analysis to identify my errors in lineup placement helps me to make better decisions in the future. And to be completely honest, this was my first brawl being able to play with Quora so I went a bit overboard choosing Earth monsters.
TreyCrypto & YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir)
After last week's surprising second place finish in Tier 3, we got back to winning ways with a resounding first place finish in this brawl cycle. With a record of 95 wins and 29 losses, we ended the brawl 27 wins ahead of the next closest competition and were awarded with 121 crowns, 6722 merits, and about 64 SPS.
With such a strong finish, it is no surprise that we had six brawlers with clean sweeps of their frays, including ,
,
,
,
, and myself. I defended my preferred Fray 16 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League and with the YGG GAP Season 3 set to conclude after Brawl #149, I am hoping to maintain an 80% win rate for the season.
Here's one example of my dominant performance, a flawless victory over from Sabaoth, the only other guild ranked in the Top 100 at the time of the brawl. I felt like my monster placement for this battle was strong and it was rewarded with the win. This is my first GAP season in the YGG alliance, so once it is over and the quest prizes have been distributed, I will likely do a season summary specifically for YGG as well - so keep an eye out for it, hopefully some time next week.
Shaelien & The 420 Syndicate
Once again The 420 Syndicate struggled with the competition in Tier 3, finishing in ninth place, while what I can only assume is a German guild, Schneewittchen Mining finished first. However, this was somewhat expected as there were six Top 100 guilds in this group and we were the ninth guild according to rank when the brawl started. Our record of 42 wins and 72 losses still earned us 35 crowns, 1750 merits, and nearly 24 SPS.
We only had four brawlers with records over 50%, so props to ,
,
, and our fearless leader
for stepping it up against the stronger competition. For what it's worth, I also struggled with the competition in Fray 10 - Modern Gold League, with a poor record of one win and six losses. However, I prefer to focus on the bright side here and show this 24-mana back to basics battle, where my Immortalis lineup thrived against
and their Rathe lineup. It will take a bit more practice to grow accustomed to brawling in Gold League, since I mostly brawl in Silver League and play ranked battles in Champion League, but I am up for the challenge just like the rest of my 420 guildmates.
The Gladius Cases
After a few big Gold Foil opens in last brawl's gladius cases, this time around it was a big miss on the GF front. Duce opened four cases, Trey opened eight cases after being able to purchase power stones, and Shaelien had just the single case.

New Brawl Preview
Since we're so close to the end of Brawl #149 and my partner is ready to head down to the pool, I'm going to skip previewing the upcoming brawl groups, but I expect the competition to be fierce and the battles to be exciting. As always, I hope you are enjoying my brawl coverage so please give a follow and leave a comment if you're so inclined - I enjoy interacting with my readers. More brawl action is coming soon, as well as some highlights from my holiday in Spain, so keep checking in for more fun content!
Thanks for reading and I'll catch you in the Splinterlands.
