Overview
Welcome back Splinterlands battlemages to another edition of "For Guild & Glory," my brawl report series covering all the action from my three accounts: in Tier 4 with
from the Kingdom of Glory [KoG] alliance,
in Tier 3 with the
alliance YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) and
in Tier 3 with the always lively
. You can read my last report for Brawl #155 here.
Today's article will be another double report covering Brawls #156 and #157 since I got a little behind in my schedule as I am back on the job hunt. So by the way, if you have any need for an experienced copyeditor or copywriter, do give me a shout. Now on to the action!
DuceCrypto & Shield of Glory
Brawl #156
Although Shield of Glory didn't win Brawl #156, I think this was a successful second-place finish for us in a competitive group featuring Immortal Gods as the victors. Despite finishing 17 wins behind IG, we finished comfortably ahead of RKO and a group of Legendary and Peakmonsters competition. Our record of 105 wins and 75 losses earned us a bounty of 161 crowns, 9200 merits, and 141 SPS.
Our strong finish was spearheaded by the high roller himself, , with an impressive 8-0 sweep.
also amassed eight wins with a strong 8-1 performance. Defending Fray 18 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League, I finished a mediocre 5-3, suffering losses to my nemesis from RKO
, as well as
and
. Typically I battle
from Immortal Gods in Fray 18, so it was interesting to see Raynie taking his place. Nonetheless, I got smoked in my matchup against IG in a 47-mana, no-legendaries battle; I suspected Yodin from my opponent but didn't have water or life available as options to counter with return fire. Raynie (and Yodin) crushed me.
Brawl #157
Shield of Glory faced off with Immortal Gods yet again in Brawl #157, and again we finished in second place, albeit with much tighter competition. In fact, one of the top guilds of the YGG Brawlers collective -- Niflheim -- managed to finish tied with us. But by virtue of us being one place ahead of them in Splinterlands' overall guild ranking, we won the tiebreaker and took second place. Our record of 103 wins and 56 losses was good enough to bring home 168 crowns, 9600 merits, and 175 SPS.
For Brawl #157, we were led by who swept their fray 7-0, as well as tournament regulars
and
each turning in one-loss performances. I did a bit better this time around, with a satisfactory 6-2 mark defending Fray 18. Regrettably, I once again failed to beat Immortal Gods, falling to my rival
in a 54-mana, no-neutrals battle, as their Byz Kitty lineup was just too fast for my monsters to keep up with.
On the bright side, I won the all-important confrontation against from Niflheim in a 49-mana, back-to-basics, scattershot battle. Since scattershot is a random attack, this could have gone either way, but I think my slightly speedier lineup made the difference in the end. It is always a bit bittersweet to beat members of YGG Brawlers because my alt account TreyCrypto plays with the Tier 3 YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir), but all is fair in love and brawl with the goal to win all my battles. This won't be the last time I feature a takedown of YGG Brawlers in this article.
TreyCrypto & YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir)
Brawl #156
After a bit of a rough patch for YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir), we bounced back to our winning ways in Brawl #156 with a huge victory, finishing 25 wins ahead of second-place YGG alliance guild members YGG Dragons and 35 wins ahead of third-place KoG alliance guild members Aegis of Glory. I think it is pretty safe to say we are the strongest YGG guild in Tier 3. Our final record of 107 wins and 31 losses meant spoils of 130 crowns, 7222 merits, and 51 SPS added to our coffers.
YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) had two brawlers in our Top 5 with very impressive clean sweeps -- at 9-0 and
at 8-0. We may have had other undefeated brawlers, but they finished with a lower win total and I did not record their performances like I typically do. Personally, I enjoyed another successful brawl defending Fray 16 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League with a 6-1 record. My only loss came to
, who successfully outplayed me in this 57-mana, super sneak battle, as their Suidae Shaman really stole the show with all the "giant" monsters in my lineup.
Brawl #157
In Brawl #157, YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) made it two wins in a row with another runaway victory, finishing 28 wins ahead of second-place MAS-Mythrel Arts Studio. Our tally of 92 wins and 33 losses earned us 119 crowns, 6611 merits, and 52 SPS.
We had another duo of undefeated brawlers in our Top 5, as finished 8-0 and
finished 7-0. Again in my traditional Fray 16, I took a step back with a lackluster 5-3 mark. Most frustrating was my loss to
of Goblintown in a 14-mana, equalizer battle, because their underpowered Level 2 Kelya managed to defeat my Level 3 Ilthain. Unfortunately for me, Jafa chose only melee monsters and their Isgald Vorst stole the show, highlighting the raw power of this amazing common gladiator.
In fact, I lost another battle to an underpowered Level 3 Keyla using Isglad Vorst, as of YGG Splinter Sharks took me down in this 30-mana, melee-only encounter. I really hope I can find a Gold Foil version of this gladiator soon, because Vorst is likely the most powerful common gladiator in the game -- Katrebla Gobson is a very close second. I certainly bought enough power stones to keep those Gold Foils flowing for the next few months, so hopefully Vorst shows up sooner than later!
Shaelien & The 420 Syndicate
Brawl #156
It has been a rough few weeks for The 420 Syndicate, as we had some players away on holiday, which only compounded the issue of us not being able to fill enough frays. In fact, for Brawl #156 we had less than half of our frays filled and that basically sealed our fate for last place. Our win rate was poor too, as we finished with 19 wins and 35 losses, earning 20 crowns, 1000 merits, and 13 SPS.
On the bright side, and
both finished with records above a 50% win rate. However, I struggled mightily in this brawl, winning only one of my five battles defending Fray 10 - Modern Gold League. But instead of dwelling on the negative, let's take a look at my one victory over
of Hivemonsters in a 46-mana, rise of the commons battle. Coastal Sentry is so strong in the second position with Possibilus as the summoner, and this battle really shows the potency of this combo.
Brawl #157
The number of filled frays and our overall record improved greatly for Brawl #157 thankfully. Although our overall record still lagged below a 50% win rate, we were able to move up the standings for a seventh-place finish -- one win ahead of Splinters Trouble. At 41 wins and 62 losses, we took home 35 crowns, 1750 merits, and 22 SPS.
The 420 Syndicate was led by and his impressive 8-1 record. Happily, I see myself back on the leaderboard, as Shaelien and
both ended up 6-2 in Brawl #157. I enjoyed quite a few big wins defending Fray 10, but this 49-mana, melee mayhem battle against
was my favorite. We both used quite a few similar monsters, so this battle hinged on just a few of the differences. I also managed a win over
from YGG Brawlers (Hel) in our 40-mana, reverse speed, earth mirror match, as my Immortalis lineup was effective at shutting down their Obsidian team.
We are still growing as an active Tier 3 guild, so if you are looking for a new home for a brawling account and have a passion for some 420 in your life, then find our discord link below and come check us out.
The Gladius Cases
It was another mixed bag for my Gladius Case openings these past two brawl cycles, but the power stones are finally paying off with some nice Gold Foil gladiators as rewards.

New Brawl Preview
In Tier 4, Shield of Glory has been drawn in a group with top-ranked guild Knights United as well as our third consecutive brawl facing off against Immortal Gods. I am hopeful that we can start to challenge IG for first place while holding off the rest of the competition.
In Tier 3, YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) has drawn a very competitive group, with Immortal Gods 4 and Absalom both used to first-place finishes. We have our work cut out for us to make it three consecutive wins in brawl. The 420 Syndicate is the second-lowest rated guild in its group of ten and faces some stiff competition at the top with five guilds in the Top 100 including KoG alliance members Aegis of Glory and YGG alliance members YGG Dragons. Good luck to all!
Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to enjoy my brawl report. I look forward to engaging with you in the comments section, so don't be shy!
Until next time, I'll see you in the Splinterlands!
