Hello friends, I hope you are very well, today I want to present my last contribution to the community as my participation in the Splinterlands Art Contest (Week 186). I read the rules very well so I decided to participate with a sculpture, since I have seen that most of them do digital work, I wanted to do something different. I chose a card and based on its design to make my piece. It is made with green aluminum cans to give it realism without forgetting its battle pose as it is reflected in the card. Hola amigos espero que se encuentren muy bien, hoy quiero presentar mi último aporte a la comunidad como mi participación en el Splinterlands Art Contest (Week 186). Leí muy bien las reglas así que decidí participar con una escultura, ya que he visto que la mayoría hace trabajos digitales yo quise hacer algo diferente. Escogí una carta y me basé en su diseño para realizar mi pieza. Esta hecha con latas de aluminio de color verde para darle realismo sin olvidar su pose de batalla como está reflejada en la carta. To make this sculpture I used 4 green beer cans, cut them in half and turned them into sheets. I thought I would need more but in the end I only used 3 sheets in total. The design for the cuts are not based on templates or printed papercraft patterns, I made them directly on the can only with imagination.
Para hacer esta escultura utilicé 4 latas de cerveza de color verde, las corte por la mitad y las convertí en láminas. Pensé que nececitaría más pero al final solo utilicé 3 láminas en total. El diseño para los cortes no estan basados en plantillas ni patrones impresos de papercraft, yo los hice directamente sobre la lata solamente con imaginación.
I chose to start with what I consider to be the largest part of the Mantoid body, where the limbs and wings go. As you can see, I made a drawing on the sheet in the form of a leaf and then I cut smaller parts to join them together, with a pen I marked the lines very well to better mold. Then to seal the lower part I did it by cutting several pieces in a square shape and using instant glue I put them one after another, finally I cut the excess of the ends following the drawn model.
Elegí comenzar por lo que considero la parte más grande del cuerpo de Mantoid, donde van las extremidade sy las alas. Como pueden observar hice un dibujo sobre la lámina en forma de hoja y luego fui cortando partes más pequeñas para unirlas entre si, con un bolígrafo remarcaba muy bien las líneas para moldear mejor. Después para sellarla parte inferior lo hice cortando varios retazos en forma cuadrada y utilizando pegamento instantaneo las fui ponieno una tras otra, por último corté el sobrante de las puntas siguiendo el modelo dibujado.
Then I began to make the upper part of the body where the most dangerous extremities and the head are, in the same way I drew on top of the can I made a bone-shaped drawing that I then covered everywhere until I had it ready, once finished I took both pieces and with glue I joined them, here you can see the progress well.
Seguidamente comencé a hacer la parte superior del cuerpo donde estan las extremidades más peligrosas y la cabeza, de la misma forma dibuje encima de la lata he hice un dibujo en forma de hueso que luego lo fui cubriendo por todas partes hasta tenerlo listo, una vez finalizado tomé ambas piezas y con pegamento las uní, aqui se puede observar bien el progreso.
Then I started doing the limbs, by far one of the most complicated parts to do because I had some unsuccessful attempts. To make it cut cut 16 pieces of 3 centimeters for the largest limbs that would be 4 limbs in total. With a metal tube I gave them a circular shape and then I joined them together making the shapes of the extremities. Then I cut 4 more pieces for the attack limbs, I had used green color but then I changed my mind and decided to do it with the inside of the can so that the limbs would look different. For the front saws I used the rings of the can where it was cut and with scissors I cut it in a zig zag shape.
Luego comencé a hacer las extremindades, por lejos una de las partes más complicadas de hacer porque tuve algunos intectos infructuosos. Para hacerlo corte corte 16 piezas de 3 centímetros para las extremidades más grandes que serían 4 extremidades en total. Con un tubo de metal les di forma circular y luego las uní entre ellas haciendo las formas de las extremidades. Luego corte 4 piezas más para las extremidades de ataque, habia usado color verde pero luego cambie de idea y decidí hacerlo con la parte interna de la lata para que las extremidades lucieran diferentes. Para las sierras delanteras utilicé los anillos de la lata por donde se destaba y con una tijera la corte en forma de zig zag.
Once the extremities are ready, begin to paste them in their corresponding place. First I put the rear limbs with a slight opening so that it can hold up well without falling, then the front ones using the same size and direction and finally the saw-shaped limbs that go on top.
Una vez listas las extremidades se comienza a pegarlas en su sitio correspondiente. Primero puse las extremidades traseras con una ligera abertura para que pueda sostenerse bien sin caerse, luego las delanteras utilizando la misma medida y dirección y por último las extremidades en forma de sierras que van en la parte superior.
To finish I made the head, the eyes, the antennae and the wings and I put them very carefully using the glue. Since Mantoid is a card that is in attack form, his wings are in alert mode so I made them open. After putting the wings I finished the whole process.
Para finalizar hice la cabeza, los ojos, lñas antenas y las alas y las fui poniendo con mucho cuidado utilizando el pegamento. Como Mantoid es una carta que está en forma de ataque, sus alas estan en modo alerta así que las hice abiertas. Después de poner las alas finalicé todo el proceso.
