Hello Splinterlandians,
today I want to continue my blog series "In The Spotlight", where I explain you all the important stuff about one single card. I will talk about lore and artwork, the stats, the combinations and tactics and I'll show you a battle with the card as an example.
For today I want to talk about Palidon Rakk, who was introduced with the Gladius cards, which packs you can only buy with Merits. He is a rare card from the earth splinter, which main characteristics are his high health points and, like all the Gladius cards, his Bloodlust ability. But let's jump into the details and don't waste time. Have fun while reading and thanks in advance for every sort of support.
Lore and Artwork:
Last spring, Palidon single handedly built the luxurious cabin in which his aging parents and seven sisters now reside. He built it in just six days as his family took a brief relaxation holiday in Khymeria’s Springs of Colorado. In all Lyveria, Palidon has not yet discovered a lady who will take him as a suitor, given his size and and often frightening appearance. On the advice of his father, Palidon has agreed to spend an extended period of time fighting as a Gladiator on the Moxian grounds to seek his next great challenge: A woman.
Stats:
Combinations and Tactics:
- In my opinion it doesn't really matter which summoner you play with Palidon Rakk. He gains no big advantages from the current most played summoners.
- Palidon Rakk should definitly be played as a tank in the first spot with his high health points if there is no special ruleset active.
- A nice combination could be, if you pair him with a Tank Healer in the background, because Palidon Rakk will live longer and could trigger his Bloodlust ability more often.
- Good rulesets for Palidon Rakk are Aim True and Reverse Speed (because of his low speed points), What doesn't kill you (because of his good raw stats and he is a melee attacker), Unprotected (because he has no armor) and all other rulesets, where he could attack from the backline.
Battle:
My battle with Palidon Rakk is from a Splinterlands tournament with the Silver League level cap. There was only the earth splinter playable and three rulesets were active: "What doesn't kill you", "Heavy Hitters" and "Born again". Most people play Obsidian with some magic attackers when playing the earth splinter, so I decided to try to counter this strategy a little bit with the new soulbound summoner Lobb Lowland.
For that I played Palidon Rakk in one of the first spots, because of his good health points and he profits from the What doesn't kill you ruleset. On the first spot I chose to play Venari Marksrat, to boost my Palidon Rakk a little bit, and its Martyr ability will trigger twice, because of the Born again ruleset. To support Palidon Rakk I played the Goblin Psychic with his Tank Heal ability. To counter the magic strategy a little bit more, I mixed some sneak attackers in my lineup, because the earth magic tactic is often vulnerable from behind.
Like I anticipated my opponent chose to play Obsidian with some magic attackers, so he just had a small chance against me. My sneak attackers cleared his lineup from behind and Paldion Rakk was boosted insanely by his Bloodlust and the Venari Marksrats Martyr. In the end he had 12 melee attack, 11 speed and 16 health points. The battle was a clear win for me, GG to my opponent .
Final Words:
Palidon Rakk is a solid card in my opinion, even though there are better cards especially from the Gladius set. But like nearly every card, it has his own usecase and if he is played wisely you can have success. And to be honest, it is always nice to have a Bloodlust card in your lineup.
If you read my blogs so far, you'll know that I like every artwork of the Galdius cards and so it is with Palidonn Rakk. You can see he is a very strong man, and the thing with the tree is very creative and unique and on top of that it fits to his splinter.
His lore harmonizes very well with his artwork. But it is mentioned that he has a talent to be a great architect and I would like it if he had the Repair ability, that would fit great. But all in all the lore is nice.
What do you think about Palidon Rakk? Thanks for reading and have some nice days!
