Today is the day when loot chests become history at Splinterlands or to be more exact, when new rewards are paid as GLINT, the new token that can be used in the new Reward Shop that Splinterlands created. We've talked about it before a few days ago, so I will not repeat the same things.
This season that just ended we still earn loot chests and they will be available for a while, but Matt said at some point support for them will be discontinued, so don't forget to claim them!
I do think it is a major shift in the gameplay, and I tried to prepare for it accordingly.
Actually, some of the Splinterlands-related activities I fit in today were not in preparation for this change in rewards, but there were some updates I needed to make, and I just found a day when I could schedule all of them together.
I didn't make a secret of the fact that land is one of the areas I am more focused on in Splinterlands than in others. But, if you have read through my weekly Hive goals, you know that due to insufficient DEC, I adapted my strategy and preferred to start unlocking plots with (much) lower energy requirements than 10k, and often much lower PP in consequence. In the meantime, the maxed-out cards (but not exceptional PP) I had prepared for land remained there unused. Today I did some cleaning that I should have done a while ago but never found the time or will to do it. All these high-energy cards that were waiting to be used, I moved to a separate account. I'll try to rent them out, but we'll see how successful. It's unlikely that I'll start needing them for a while on land due to my DEC shortage, so if I can make a little rent income in the meantime from them, it would be great.
For the upcoming GLINT and Rewards Shop additions, as well as the final day of burning gladiators for DEC, I did some preparations too.
I had 12k+ merits in my account. Used them to purchase 6 Gladius cases and open them. I was lucky and one of them was GF. My strategy was to burn GF gladiators for DEC and I did the same with this one since this was the last chance to do it. From this day forward, we can only burn them for merits. That's not bad either if we want to level up our gladiators quicker.
As for the time after the maintenance is over, I am very curious to see prices in the shop relative to how many GLINT we will be earning. I know there is a 50% GLINT bonus for winning in the Modern format, but I'm not interested in switching. I can use time better differently.
I know for sure I will be burning my duplicated maxed-out common and rare soulbound reward cards for GLINT. I'm not sure about epics and legendaries. They may be worth keeping and unlocking to be sold on the market. But I don't think the amount of DEC necessary to unlock soulbound reward cards has been set already, so it would be a gamble to keep duplicates for this purpose.
Anyway, my immediate goal is to max out all the regular soulbound reward cards. I'm still quite far from it, but I want to do it before the next set is out in the summer. This is how I stand, right now, before the EOS rewards (regulars is what I'm aiming to have at 100% for all rarities - colored in cyan below):
Surprisingly, I have 3 maxed legendaries but no maxed epic so far.
Well, I wanted to push this post till after the maintenance, to have a look at the new updates, but I see the maintenance window is quite long, so I'll post this and see the updates later or tomorrow...
