With such a popular game that Splinterlands became in the crypto-verse, and hopefully a bit beyond it, pulling people from outside into blockchain gaming, it's nice to see a hosting of apps being developed for Splinterlands as well.
I still consider PeakMonsters the best and most complete companion tool for Splinterlands, but there are others that do a very good job on their slice of the playfield.
One of them was presented in this week's Splinterlands Town Hall, and it's a tool for managing guilds developed by NFTy Arcade Guild for guilds (the external kind, not the in-game ones). Interesting stuff...
But that's not what I want to talk about.
Up until recently, I used the Season Report Card from SplinterStats to have a breakdown of my rewards at the end of the season.
This time it was very slow in finding the previous season's start probably after looking through more than 250k blocks, which is a lot.
Anyway, there is another tool I gave it a try for the first time a couple of days ago. Its name: SplinterShare.
I believe they are building a database with Splinterlands-related info, and they are querying that database for information. Certainly, they are not looking for it on the blockchain in real-time, because everything is almost instantaneous.
All you need to do is enter your username and hit Enter or click "Search for my last reward".
What is even more interesting is that you can navigate between the recent rewards you have received (both seasonal and daily rewards) and see them in a nice visual representation, with doubles added together, DEC, potions, and the number of packs totaled. And at the end an evaluation of your rewards worth in dollar terms.
For a quick, succinct, and visually appealing option, and the possibility to navigate between recent rewards, SplinterShare is what I'd use.
But Season Report Card offers a more in-depth analysis, broken down by type of assets and how you got them. And it accounts for rental income, which SplinterShare doesn't.
On the other hand, Season Report Card doesn't tell me anything about the rental income alone, if I hadn't played with the account during the previous season. And I don't play with my account from where I rent out cards, generally. That would be a nice addition, I suppose. Either that or I'll have to start a quest on that account even if I don't follow through if I want these stats.
That being said, let's see what were my rewards this season:
"Only" 66 champion chests, but I played almost 2 days in gold (started from G2) and I haven't played on the last day of the season.
Curious about how this season will be because I started from D2.
Let's return to the rewards... :)
Let's see... I've received two legendary cards (Harklaw and Jared Scar), one epic card (Lava Launcher), and one common GF (Blood Maker). That's for the cards.
I've got 11760 DEC and no less than 5 packs!
I also received 3 legendary and 4 alchemy potions.
SplinterShare evaluated all these rewards at 33.44 USD. At today's prices. But if we think in perspective, that can be much higher.
I'll have to say, that's pretty awesome! I don't know if on average these are great rewards for champion chests or not, for the new style, but I am pleased.
5 packs, 2 legendaries, 1 epic, 11k+ DEC... I don't even care about the dollar valuation... at this time.
The happiest I am about Jared Scar, one of the new reward cards, which I check out for the first time.
Bloodlust, an ability I really appreciate.
True strike, to not miss higher speed cards.
Piercing, to go through armor, with its huge attack power.
Strengths:
- high chance of pulverizing defenders because of huge attack power + piercing + true strike, triggering bloodlust
- life splinter has lots of armor and protection options
- decent mana cost
Weaknesses:
- low speed (but it's great for reversed order ruleset)
- low life, but bloodlust can help with that if he kills a few times and you have tank heal
- vulnerable to magic
Overall, it's not one of the most powerful reward cards, but it has its niches when it'll become a beast.
