It's a bit of slow week even though the Town Hall was still interesting to listen to, I've decided to revisit the Share a Battlle challenge, instead of doing my usual "This week in Splinterlands..." post. I've decided to share a battle with one of the most recently added cards to the game, part of the 43 soulbound reward cards we are currently earning - Iziar. She is a Magic Attack Monster but most importantly since she is a Legendary Monster, she has two very good abilities as well - more about them in a minute.
Now before we get into the stats discussion of Iziar, let's have a sneak peek into her LORE.
So, Iziar is actually a Storm Giant, who has recently lost her partner but is actually pregnant, whatever that means in the world of Storm Giants.
Alright, we've got some idea of who Iziar is, after glancing at her lore. Let us have a look at her stats and abilities at different key levels now.
- Iziar is a Legendary Monster. At level 1 she has 2 Magic Attack, 3 Speed, 0 Armor and 12 Health but most importantly she starts off with her two signature abilities - Taunt (All enemy Monsters target this Monster (if they are able to)) and Void (Reduced damage from Magic attacks). Her starting amount of 12 Health is quite good in conjunction with these two abilities. Of course nothing comes for free, so she costs a fair amount of mana - 11.
- At level 2 she gains 2 HP for a total of 14.
- At level 3 she gains her third ability - Martyr (When this Monster dies, adjacent Monsters get +1 to all stats), which makes it an even more interesting Monster in terms of placement.
- Finally, maxed out at level 4 she has 3 Magic Attack, 3 Speed, 0 Armor and 14 Health. I would say she has the potential to be one of the best cards in this Reward set.
Now that we know what the card does (or doesn't do) at the different levels of play, let us have a look at the battle I have chosen to showcase.

- The line-up of the Battle and the Ruleset:
The rulesets for this battle are Taking Sides (Neutral Monsters may not be used in battles), Unprotected (Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs) and Aim True (Attacks always hit their target). The mana budget is 45 which is a bit above average but I definitely cannot go all out with my choice of Monsters , so a bit more careful planning will be involved in this case. The available Splinters are just Life and Dragon. I will go with Dragon and obviously Life as the supporting Splinter.
First in the line-up is the Void Dragon. It is very well-known for its evasiveness but this time since we have the Aim True ruleset, that will not work. I have still chosen it just for its fairy good health amount of 9 for its cost of 5 mana and the fact that it is also very resilient to Magic Damage so if it somehow does get hit by a Magic attack it will suffer reduced damage from the spell.
Following immediately after the Void Dragon is a recent favorite of mine which has arrived into the game with the Rift Watchers mini set, but it is every but mini in terms of its stats - Corsair Bosun. It is specifically great for the Thorns and Explosive Weaponry rulesets since its Reflection Shield makes it immune to Thorns and splash damage. It also has the Reach ability so it has no issues attacking from the off-tank position.
The 3rd place in the line-up goes to the Time Mage. It is a Caster which is basically a must-have in most situations since at this current level it not only has Slow (which is one of the most important abilities in the game imho) but it also has Rust (reduced the armor of all enemy Monsters). Of course we already have the Unprotected ruleset in this battle so Rust will not be beneficial this time.
The 4th spot goes to the Venari Crystalsmith. It is a great healer I often use when playing the Life Splinter. It is also nice that it benefits from Sloan's attack buff when paired with her. It is a really cheap reward card so it is a definite must-have for any player.
The 5th spot goes to Djinn Renova. It is a great support Monster which packs a very good punch with its 4 Magic Attack. I often use it when playing the Life Splinter. Its two supporting abilities - Strengthen (All friendly Monsters have increased Health) and Triage (Heals the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage) are a welcome addition to any line-up.
In the last spot is our main protagonist this battle - Iziar. She is level 1 right now, since I've only managed to pick up 2 BCX of her so far in chests, so no Martyr for me quite yet. This makes the decision where to put her easier though. Last spot with the hopes that she will survive the enemy pressure, supported by Djinn Renova's Triage, as long as possible.
It is time for a quick round by round analysis:
- The Summoner I am going with for the battle is my favorite and only maxed out Dragon Summoner - Quix. The battle itself is in a Diamond-level Tourney and my opponent has chosen to go with a maxed Sloan. That's great for me as Quix is Sloan's absolute counter and then some since he also nerfs the Speed of the enemy Monsters. Other than that I have 4 out of 6 maxed out Monsters on my side and my opponent also has the same amount of max level Monsters, so the teams are comparable at least in this parameter. I still feel I have the edge since my opponent cannot take advantage of Uriel's armor and Adelade's Repair ability.
- After 1 round of exchanging blows my Iziar is still standing despite being just a level 1, the enemy Uriel is still hanging in there thanks to its self-heal and the support of the enemy Venari Crystalsmith.
- Round 3 begins and we can see that I have lost my Iziar but on the other hand the enemy has lost their Uriel and now their Crystalsmith has the hard task of trying to tank. My Void Dragon is on the brink of dying as well as it currently has zero evasiveness but that's okay since Corsair Bosun has definitely got this (at least temporarily).
- Round 4 - I have definitely gained the advantage in this battle and its end is pretty close at this point.
- Round 5 - the only thing left for my team is to finish off the remaining enemy Monsters. It was a relatively easy win for my team this time around.
- My victory seemed certain throughout the battle, and it's no surprise that Splintertools.io shows that I did indeed have a 100% chance to win.
Iziar is an interesting Magic Attack Monster with a great amount of health and excellent tanking abilities, specifically against Magic damage. Normally I would suggest buying her and let you know what her currently price is but since she is a soul bound Lengendary which cannot be traded for the time being, I will just wish you a lot of luck with your chest openings and may you stumble upon a lot of GF copies of her.
Over and Out,
