Today's Battle of the Day turned out to be a Battle of the Brawl and it features this week's hero: Djinn Apprentice.
The Card
Fire is not the team associated with a lot of magic cards. In fact, among the five Elements it has in modern play the least amount of them. That is why the Djinn Apprentice is a valuable addition to every Fire deck. If your opponent thinks you play Fire, the least they will suspect is encountering magic (I hope)😉.
Djinn Apprentice comes with 2 magic attack right from the beginning. Its weakness is its low speed and health so level it as soon as possible. Being a rare Chaos Legion card that can be done very cost efficiently at the moment.
Battle conditions
Ruleset
I was fighting in the silver Chaos Legion fray in our brawl today. In a Fire and Dragon only battle with 46 mana cap and equalizer Ruleset I thought immediately "Let's do some magic".
So let us see, how the Djinn Apprentice fits into our lineup.
Lineup
I decided on Tarsa as a summoner for the buffs rather than the debuffs by Quix. In equalizer it is important to maximize the damage output as every monster has the same (probably very high) amount of health and fire is a melee heavy team.

Bringing in two magic attack was important. They gain a lot of health from equalizer ruleset and Fire's magic defense is very limited here. My opponent can only play Fire, either with Quix or Tarsa, and the most probable defense is heavy armored with shield ability if they suspect melee attacks.
The mana allows for expensive units to be summoned so hopefully the giant killer will do its job if necessary.
Chimney Wallstop pushes everyone's health to at least 9. Since I suspect some armor, which should be shattered or gone near the end of first round, it is important that most units are faster than my gladiator. If it can trigger bloodlust once or twice it could become a "one hit wonder" due to the stat boost.

Oh boy, this was to be expected.
So my opponent chose a similar strategy. Placing magic attack units in the middle to protect them. One gladiator Card is also in there, supporting the sneak attack by their Tenyii Striker.
The tank is no surprise, the summoner selection is. But it seems I compensated well for it. I have only one ranged unit that will suffer a debuff and the speed malus will be negated by my Supply Runner's swiftness.
The Result
The magic attackers were protected perfectly. After Wallstop's bloodlust triggered it became a most heavy tank, beautifully assisted by Djinn Apprentice and Djinn Inferni.
Djinn Apprentice's low health usually lets it fall victim to opportunity or snipers within the first two rounds. It shines in rulesets without that thread. With magic being a rare addition to Fire teams it can be a game changer if placed correctly for its protection.
