Hello Splinterlands Community, for this week I will share my thoughts and opinions about Pelacor Arbalest which is one of the most powerful cards in the light element. It deals heavy ranged damage to the opponents with its double strike ability but needs careful positioning and team planning in order to fully utilize this card.
About Pelacor Arbalest
Pelacor Arbalest is a 6 mana rare light unit that deals ranged damage and also belongs to the Chaos Legion set. The price of the level 1 regular foil card is $0.224 while the gold foil card is currently listed at $2.545 on the marketplace as of this writing. The price for this card is relatively higher compared to other rare cards in the Chaos Legion Set since this card is very useful which deals massive ranged damage to the enemies.
The figure above shows the complete statistics of Pelacor Arbalest from Level 1 up to its maximum level of 8. It already has the double strike ability at level 1 which allows this card to attack twice each round. This is very effective if the enemy team is composed of low health monsters. Based on the figure above, I can say that upgrading this card to Level 7 to increase its ranged damage to 3 would be a challenge since it requires 85 cards and it is relatively closer to its maximum level. Upgrading this card to at least Level 5 would be great in order to unlock the Flying ability. This gives the Pelacor Arbalest protection when the earthquake ruleset is present in the match and the flying ability could cause the melee/ranged enemy monsters to miss their attacks on this card.
Rulesets
Since Pelacor Arbalest costs 6 mana to be able to use in battles, it is important to think and plan carefully the team composition that will be build together with the Pelacor Arbalest. This includes the mana cap and the different rulesets that may be present in the match, so that this card would not be a total waste of mana and space on the team.
Equaliser
This ruleset is very effective and useful for the Pelacor Arbalest, it makes the initial Health of all Monsters in the battlefield equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health. Since Pelacor Arbalest has a low amount of health, it would benefit a lot from this ruleset particularly if the enemy team uses a monster that has a massive amount of health.
Equal Opportunity
This ruleset is also good with Pelacor Arbalest, this ruleset gives every monster in the battlefield the opportunity ability which makes them target the monster of the opposing team that has the lowest amount of health. The double strike ability of the Pelacor Arbalest works very well in this ruleset since this unit can actually take down two opponents in a single round of attack. The downside of this ruleset is that it makes the Pelacor Arbalest a priority target for the enemy monsters since this card has a low amount of health especially at lower levels.
Target Practice
This ruleset is great for Pelacor Arbalest, it gives the snipe ability to every ranged and magic damage monsters present in the battlefield. The snipe ability makes the monster target the opponents which is not placed in the first position. It allows the Pelacor Arbalest to take down all the enemy monsters that are placed behind the the enemies frontline unit which could make the match more winnable especially if the target monster was one of the main source of damage of the enemy team.
Close Range
This ruleset fits very well with Pelacor Arbalest. It gives all ranged monsters in the battlefield the ability to deal damage to opponents while in first position. This makes the double strike ability of the Pelacor Arbalest still usable even if the card was eventually placed in the first position. However the vulnerability of this card would be one issue for this ruleset to be not much as effective compared to other ranged monsters that has good amount of health or has armor in the game.
Aim True
This ruleset is beneficial for the Pelacor Arbalest. It makes the attacks of all monsters on the battlefield to hit their target all the time. It also causes other abilities of monsters that has evade or flight or phase ability to become less effective because of this ruleset. This ruleset ensures that the Pelacor Arbalest will successfully deal its ranged damaged to opponents each round in order to secure the victory.
Summoners
It is also crucial to choose the best and appropriate summoner that will be use in the match in order to maximize the damage and overall impact of the card in the match. Since Pelacor Arbalest is a light rare unit, the card would only be available to use on light element summoners and dragon element summoners as well if the light element is present on that match. Since I mostly using Chaos Legion Cards , Reward cards and other starter cards that are playable in the game, I am going to share some summoners that belongs in those sets which I'm very familiar with and already have played in multiple occasions that I think is the best option to choose if ever you want to use Pelacor Arbalest in a ranked battle.
General Sloan
This summoner is the best choice to use when playing the Pelacor Arbalest. It gives +1 ranged damage buff to the whole team which benefits the Pelacor Arbalest a lot. With this buff the Pelacor Arbalest has now 3 ranged damage and with the double strike ability it can now deal 6 ranged damage on a single target or even take down 2 straight opponents with this ability. This would be extremely powerful if the Pelacor Arbalest is at level 7 where it has an initial 3 ranged damage at that point which would increase to 4 with the buff from this summoner and the double strike ability will make this 8 ranged damage against a single target.
Dragon of Arnak
This dragon summoner is also good when playing Pelacor Arbalest. It gives +1 armor to all units and since it is a dragon element summoner, it allows you to use dragon element monsters in the battlefield. The armor buff from this summoner gives the Pelacor Arbalest some durability against monsters that has sneak, snipe and opportunity ability. The armor buff would also be useful if the earthquake ruleset is present in the match and if the Pelacor Arbalest is Level 4 and below.
Mother Khala
This is another summoner that can be used to play the Pelacor Arbalest. It gives +1 health to your entire team which makes the Pelacor Arbalest a bit durable. This summoner would only be the right choice to use if the no summoner buff ruleset is present in the match nevertheless going with General Sloan is still the best summoner to use if you want to deploy the Pelacor Arbalest.
My Battle
This is a ranked battle I want to share where I used my Pelacor Arbalest alongside other ranged damage monsters to take down the enemy team with the huge buff coming from the Equalizer Ruleset. I used General Sloan as my summoner in this match to increase the ranged damage of all my units at the start of the match. My entire team benefits a lot with the Equalizer ruleset which makes all my monsters very durable that leads me to secure this victory. You can also watch this match by clicking this link below.
