I have been experimenting with different strategies as I begin to level up my deck.
Djinn Chwala has been an excellent tank for the lower mana battles to counter the Cursed Windeku. I have found that pairing this with the Drake of Arnak has successfully repelled most of the death teams I have faced. You basically end up with a higher mana costing and more solid version of Windeku.
For slightly higher mana battles I tend to use Mylor and Unicorn Mustang but for the smallest battle options, Chwala is a solid option.
What I like about these setups in particular as far as strategy is the prevalence of sneak based teams in Bronze means I have been able to counter their main strength when they opt for melee 90% of the time. For the remaining 10% the biggest trouble has been with a ranged magic setup. I have found the majority of players at around 12, 13 or 14 mana tend to use Cursed Windeku, who more often than not is the winner of many a battle in Bronze.
Over the last few days before the end of season and at the start of the current season, I have been tracking my win rate against Cursed Windeku at 11 and 12 mana and so far... I have had a 80% win rate against it, winning 16 out of the 20 battles thus far.
Seriously, if you haven't given it a try, do it, and very much worth while.
Strategy Experiment
This is one of my favourite combinations but is particularly effective at low, low mana.
This is the most effective strategy I have come across for consistently beating Cursed Windeku and any time I play this combo, I expect the win.
What is your strategy for low mana battles? I'd love to hear your ideas. Are there any experiments you want me to run next? Comment below and lets end the reign of Windeku in Bronze.
