No doubt you are all aware of the importance of a good summoner. Trouble is, most of us see matches against people with summoners such as Llama, Yodin and that cute little kitty (Looks can definitely be deceiveing).
Those summoners are freakishly expensive. Unless you rent them out, which you could at a fraction of the cost, the chances of you having one of those beauties in your hand is pretty slim.
The trouble with renting them though, is that by themselves they aren't that awesome. Yeah they give your level 1 cards a little boost, but those that own them, will generally have much higher level monsters to work in conjuntion with them. So unless you're playing in the big leagues, they aren't that great.
For those of you who are playing in the bronze and low silver leagues though, you may want to take a look at those non ability summoners. Now most people will shy away from them as they don't really enhance your deck. That's where you'd be mistaken.
Owning Kretch for example at level 1 will allow you to lay down a level 2 common card. That level 2 common card could give you that edge you need to beat those in your league. A little boost to health, speed or attack is very handy. Also, one more important thing to think about, is the fact that if you have layed the same card as the opposition, because yours is a level 2, it will attack first. Higher level cards will always attack before a speed matched card.
Now kretch is a fairly inexpensive summoner. At the time of writing you could pick up a level 1 for $6.19 USD. So for just over $18 you could get yourself a level 2 (cheaper sometimes) make sure you check out #monstermarket as you also get a cash back in dec with your purchases.
Now a level 2 kretch will allow you to play a level 3 common, a level 3 rare, a level 2 epic and a level 1 legendary. This would give you a massive edge over your opponents in the lower leagues. For a relatively small outlay, you could begin to get more wins, more dec, more rating points and generally have more fun, because you're not getting your arse handed to you on a regular basis. Oh you'll still get beaten. But it just may not be as much.
So the lesson here ladies and germs, is to not go all out and get into debt by buying or rent the big summoners. Early game, you could do a lot for your game by simply investing in a no ability summoner. I've pointed out Kretch, but there are others you can look at, depending on what splinter you favour. I like Kretch, because as a Dragon summoner, i can play any splinter alongside it.
That's all for today.
Happy spintering.
