Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Marlai Singariel.
Featured cards
Marlai Singariel is a water archon that costs 6 mana. This archon is a frontier card and it gives +1 magic to all monsters on your side. Leveling this card only increases the level of cards you can use in the fight.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan
The rulesets this time are Brute Force. This means monsters attack based on their attack stat rather than their speed. There is also 53 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for dragon.
This ruleset is interesting because of how the attack order changes. Some slow but hard hitting monsters are better to use now.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marlai Singariel | 6 | Summoner | +1 Magic |
| Giant Alpine Skink | 8 | 1st | Shield |
| Thanalorian Scion | 5 | 2nd | Void Armor |
| Mystic Scaleweaver | 9 | 3rd | |
| Grimbardun Smith | 6 | 4th | Immunity |
| Daarg Deadblast | 7 | 5th | Swiftness and Weapons Training |
| Ulundin Overseer | 11 | 6th | |
| Total Mana: | 52 |
My summoner is Marlai Singariel for the +1 magic. My tank is Giant Alpine Skink with shield. After that is Thanalorian Scion with void armor. Then I have some more magic damage dealers with some support monsters given magic damage by Daarg's weapons training.
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while I deal as much damage as possible. Giant Alpine Skink and Thanalorian Scion are my tanky monsters to take hits, and I am relying on the magic damage to take out my opponent.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match is to my advantage. My opponent has 2 monsters that can't attack from their position, so I have the damage advantage.
Round 4
A few rounds later, my opponent is left down to 2 monsters while I still have 4. My opponent can't outdamage me so I win by default.
I won that match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle did not go exactly as planned because Scion died early due to poison. However, my magic damage managed to overcome this. Marlai Singariel and Daarg Deadblast in Brute Force gave me some strong magic damage to wipe out my opponent.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
