Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Demented Shark.
Featured cards
Demented Shark is a water splinter that costs 6 mana. It starts with inspire. Leveling this card gives this card thorns at level 6. This is a card that I can only use in Brawls, but I do think it's very useful. When I can, I use this along with melee monsters for more damage.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan
The rulesets this time are Rise of the Commons and Are You Not Entertained?. This means that only common/rare cards can be used, and one extra gladiator can be used. There is also 40 mana available, and I can use every splinter except for fire, death, and dragon.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kelya Frendul | 4 | Summoner | +1 speed and armor |
| Alva the Crusher | 6 | 1st | Shield and Bloodlust |
| Flying Squid | 7 | 2nd | Reach |
| Demented Shark | 6 | 3rd | Inspire |
| Deeplurker | 6 | 4th | Opportunity |
| Isgald Vorst | 5 | 5th | Opportunity and Bloodlust |
| Swamp Spitter | 7 | 6th | Repair |
| Total Mana: | 41 |
My summoner is Kelya Frendul for the +1 armor. My tank is Alva the Crusher with shield and bloodlust. After that is Flying Squid with reach. Demented Shark is after that, then I have two more opportunity monsters with a final repair monster in the last spot.
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. I have a shield monster up front to tank damage, and there is demented shark to buff up my melee monsters. There are two bloodlust melee monsters, so it will be even more powerful if any of these bloodlust monsters are able to stack kills. The last repair monster is just to make my monsters survive longer.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, but I think I have the better chances of winning. Both me and my opponent have two bloodlust monsters and that can change around who can win this match.
Round 6
A few rounds later, my opponent's lineup has just one monster left, and I still have 3. So this match is my win.
I won the match as I expected.
Conclusion
The battle this time did go exactly as planned. I used Demented Shark to increase the damage on my melee monsters, and it worked out. My bloodlust monsters didn't get as many kills as I wanted, but the damage they did helped out.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
