This recent roadmap puts the release of Rebellion in the 3rd quarter. Is that enough time for us to recover.
I found my way into Splinterlands November 2021. Cards were expensive. Untamed and dice were sold out and they were expensive on the secondary market. The presale for Chaos Legion was underway but that required vouchers and vouchers were expensive. SPS was fairly new and that was expensive. Even DEC was expensive, going for well above peg.
It would have been a wonderful time to already hold Splinterlands assets. I really hope that we can get back to that point.
I enjoyed the game and I enjoyed the economy, so I jumped in. I bought cards. I bought tokens. When Chaos Legion was finally released it was so exciting and I bought up as many packs as I could.
Soon after I started playing, crypto winter set in and the value of all the assets I'd purchased ended up declining.
If I had it all to do over again, I would still jump into Splinterlands, but I would also do it a bit differently. If I can ever get my hands on a time machine, I'm going to be so rich.
I remember wondering if Chaos Legion would sell out within hours of hitting the market. I think the team ended up choosing a great number of packs to release and I'm glad the set was available for the time that it was. Based on my understanding of what came before me, previous sets like Untamed and Dice had been available in the market for a similar length of time.
Now I'm wondering if the release of Rebellion will be smaller than what Chaos legion was. I'm hoping that it will be a similar size to the Chaos Legion release.
Before we can get there I think that a couple of things have to happen.
Riftwatchers has to sell out!
We have to be faced with the same question about Rebellion. Will this set sell out before I can get my hands on any?
Ultimately I'm not sure that we'll be there in the third quarter. Some of the rewards cards that recently went out of print look like they've come off of their all time lows for good, but that may have to do with more factors than just supply and demand. Chaos Legion prices look like they might have bottomed out, but they don't look like they've started any sort of rebound yet. Riftwatchers sales have been slow. Packs are still available in the store and it's a fantastic set but sales are just a trickle right now.
Our last townhall talked about another proposal to sell Riftwatchers in DEC. I voted against a similar proposal previously, but I think the time may be right.

I'm still trying to balance SPS accumulation with card accumulation for the cards that are already on the market.
I think a 3rd thing that may need to happen before Rebellion is the release of SPS league cutoffs. It was hinted at around the start of the year, and again in the last town hall. After I know the cutoffs, I may be able to focus more of what I've been allocating to SPS for Riftwatchers and Rebellion cards.
