There's something about this new system on Splinterlands and that's the fact that there's no continuous consistency of play to the kinds of opponent the system pairs you with. Sometimes you play against the easiest opponents and you're disappointed that they didn't even put up a fight.
I'm the type of player who wants my opponent to compete, I do not like "easy wins" no matter how profitable they seem. I rather not have any ECR left than play battles where the game is over in the first or second round in my favour.
It still amazes me how a level one Kelya Fredul manages to compete in Gold 2. I mean, this is where you can easily put out a level 6 summoner, and it makes me wonder how a level 4 Lobb Lowland is battling a level one Kelya Fredul, and they're supposed to be in the same rating. I want to think the new system is still shaping up and this might take a while. It's mostly educative to play against opponents that have better decks than you, and playing level-one opponents hardly teaches me anything.
I don't hate the fact that it's an easy SPS in the bag, but then there's nothing that beats stepping out in the arena and giving out your best
Sometimes, it's completely different. I played some high-level opponents and they completely blew me away. It's not like I didn't come up with the right strategy, they just had a more expensive lineup and they were spoilt with choices, especially in Ruleset where it's difficult to afford to set out a team because you don't have enough cards in some departments. It feels like they've compromised you.
You feel this utter shame within, and you're completely blown away by their sophisticated lineup and the incumbent strategies. You don't learn from such battles and the reason is because you might never be able to afford the cards you played against.
These inconsistencies are sometimes exciting. For a very long time, I get to play again in Gold 2. It's been months since I last played there. Finally, I can. This means that the new system is actively benefiting me. For over 6 months I've not had up to 40 chests a season, but I'm currently with 27 gold chests and we have six days to the end of the season. So if I win 3 Gold chests per day for six days, that would be 18. 18 plus 27, that would be 45 chests.
This is currently hypothetical and anything can still happen. However, even if I don't earn up to 45 gold chests, having 40 would already be a massive success for me.
Can I play in Gold One?
This is the ultimate question. First of all, I need to cement my standing in Gold 2, so that even if I incur some losing streak at some point I won't stop down to Gold 3. So the aim is to cement my position in Gold 2 and if I can luckily enter Gold One, then it would have been a miracle. But, my realistic expectation is finishing strongly in Gold 2.
So I have been taking time to compare silver focus rewards to Gold, and I think that SPS-wise earning Gold focus reward is better, but you might not get as many soulbound rewards as you will with silver daily focus. However, your chances of earning epic and legendary cards are also increased, it's just that since Gold daily chest is difficult to earn, you still have time to be able to earn these cards. So, I think silver chests help you to earn more soulbound rewards while gold daily chests help you earn more SPS.
8K SPS
So after buying over 1K SPS for two weeks or so, I've been able to hit 8k SPS, and thankful for the 16k delegations I currently have to keep playing. SPS is pulling some decent numbers and it's just above 3 cents at the moment. I think SPS can do 10 cents at the peak of the bull market, but 15 or 20 cents will be a dream come true. It's not impossible because of the utility and SPS is greatly desired nowadays.
Target For The Season's End
So it'll be a massive success if I finish with 40 chests and maintain my standing in Gold 2. Earning anything above 40 chests and finishing in Gold One will be unbelievable, whatever I achieve between these two will still be considered a good win. Scoring may be one legendary, some epics and SPS above 50 will also be a good haul for me.
