Hi, Splinterfans! I started playing Splinterlands three weeks ago. I was looking for a Play2Earn game with some upside and reached here after discarding some others mainly for low potential or for a high-cost barrier entry. I was asked by to ask an introductory post, so this will be a good starting point to let you know what to expect from my posts from now on ;). As for me, I'm 56, from Madrid (Spain) with a degree in Economics and trying to keep updated with almost all things-crypto, since I hope it will provide a decent income in the future years. As a disclaimer, please, don't follow blindly any advice I can do in my posts and do your own research. Also, I'm sorry if some of my expressions sound weird, as I said before, I'm native-Spanish :)
I have invested so far $60 in Hive, enough to buy a Spellbook, 20000 DEC and keep the rest in my Hive Wallet (around $38 now), so it's almost a F2P account, but this will change with the release of Chaos Legion, since I plan to invest heavily here.
After learning the ropes with my small collection, I have decided to follow a course and I pretend to stick with it for some time, as I believe it's slightly profitable. Last season I reached Gold II, netting 26 chests, while renting almost all cards for playing. This has been profitable, since I managed to recover all the rental costs with income for winning matches, but I felt it was too time consuming, so for this season, I have decided to stop at Silver I, where the rental costs are cheaper and wins are easier to achieve.
The plan is renting in almost all the cards I'll be using at their max levels (for silver, that is), while renting out all my collection, which, obviously, it's not maxed for silver yet, and may contribute to alleviate the costs. I'll be renting out all my collection except regular-common-level 1 cards, and today it means 80 DEC, which looks ok.
I'll try to play and post daily for you to see the evolution of the account. As now, here is the status of my account today, before I start playing.
This “dashboard” will be updated with my (hopefully) daily post. I don't expect to have big gains in this first stage until the release of Chaos Legion, but in any case, it will help me to gain a little focus, and may inspire some of you who is starting as well.
In this regard, please, don't hesitate to comment, or ask anything about me or my experience here, I'll be glad to answer and help if necessary.
Stay safe.
Krodash.
